Gary Cooper - The Virginian

Scene from Victor Fleming's The Virginian (1929), starring Gary Cooper as The Virginian and Walter Huston as Trampas. Based on Owen Wister's novel and play, this is Gary Cooper's first all-talkie film and a hugely influential Western which put in place the themes, characters, plot and visuals that Westerns would follow for the next 40 years. This scene also contains the famous exchange between The Virginian and Trampas: Trampas: ...You long-legged son of a... The Virginian: If you wanna call me that... smile. Meet John Doe: Gary Cooper, Barbara Stanwyck, Walter Brennan, Gene Lockhart (1941 Movie)

DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchive.org Meet John Doe is a 1941 comedy drama film directed and produced by Frank Capra and starring Gary Cooper and Barbara Stanwyck. The film, about a "grassroots" political campaign, created unwittingly by a newspaper columnist and pursued by a wealthy businessman, became a box office hit and was nominated for an Academy Award for best original story (for Richard Connell and Robert Presnell Sr.). Though the film is less well known than other Capra classics, it remains highly regarded today. It was ranked #49 in AFI's 100 Years... 100 Cheers. The film is now in the public domain. Infuriated at being told to write one final column after being laid off from her newspaper job, Ann Mitchell (Barbara Stanwyck) prints a letter from a fictional unemployed "John Doe," threatening suicide on Christmas Eve in protest of society's ills. When the note causes a sensation and the paper's competition suspects a fraud and starts to investigate, the newspaper editor rehires Mitchell who comes up with a scheme of hiding the fictional nature of "John Doe" while exploiting the sensation caused by the fake letter to boost the newspaper's sales, for which she demands a bonus equal to 8 months' pay. After reviewing a number of derelicts who have shown up at the paper claiming to have penned the original suicide letter, Mitchell and editor Henry Connell (James Gleason) hire John Willoughby (Gary Cooper), a former baseball player and tramp who is in need of money ...

SERGEANT YORK TRAILER 1941 GARY COOPER

Re-release trailer for Howard Hawks' the critically acclaimed biopic of World War I hero, Alvin York (1887-1964), starring Gary Cooper, Joan Leslie and Walter Brennan. York, a fundamentalist Christian whose exploits during the Muse Argonne Offensive earned him medals for valor from both France and the United States -- including the Congressional Medal of Honor -- had refused all offers to film his story, until, alarmed by the rise of facism and the proliferation of appeasement movement spearheaded by such prominent public figures as Charles Lindergh, he relented. The result is a superb motion picture that garnered nine Academy Award nominations -- including Best Picture Director and Best Director. Gary Cooper won his first Best Actor Oscar for his heartfelt performance in a role for which he was personally selected by the real-life York. A Farewell to Arms: Helen Hayes, Gary Cooper, and Adolphe Menjou (1932 Movie)

DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchive.org A Farewell to Arms is a 1932 American drama film directed by Frank Borzage. The screenplay by Oliver HP Garrett and Benjamin Glazer is based on the 1929 semi-autobiographical novel of the same name by Ernest Hemingway. Set in Europe during World War I, the plot focuses on the tragic romance between Frederick Henry (Gary Cooper), an American ambulance driver serving in the Italian Army, and English Red Cross nurse Catherine Barkley (Helen Hayes). Major Rinaldi (Adolphe Menjou) envies their relationship and has Catherine transferred to Milan. When Frederick is wounded in battle, he finds himself in the hospital where Catherine works. They continue their affair until he returns to battle. Now-pregnant Catherine settles in Switzerland, and when her many letters to Henry remain unanswered because his responses are held up by the censors, she assumes he has abandoned her. As the Armistice nears, Frederick journeys to Switzerland to find Catherine, who dies in childbirth with him at her side. In his review in the New York Times, Mordaunt Hall said, "There is too much sentiment and not enough strength in the pictorial conception of Ernest Hemingway's novel . . . the film account skips too quickly from one episode to another and the hardships and other experiences of Lieutenant Henry are passed over too abruptly, being suggested rather than told . . . Gary Cooper gives an earnest and splendid portrayal [and] Helen Hayes is admirable as ...

Gary Cooper Patricia Neal-I luv u without dignity, without regret

Gary Cooper is playing Howard Roark and Patricia Neal portrays Dominique Francon in this 1949 Movie "The Fountainhead". There are some truly romantic dialogues in this scene.... Neal says to Cooper... If it gives you pleasure to know that you are breaking me down, I will give you a greater satisfaction, I love you..... I have no pride left to stop me, I love you without dignity, without regret. And then there are dialogues on human values... Neal to Cooper... They hate you because of the greatness of your achievement, they hate you for your integrity, they hate you because they know they can neither corrupt you nor rule you.
