Linacre Gas Works Demolition
The Start of the Demolition of Bootle's gas works started earlier this year, this is just some of the footage of it being dis-mantled. The work will continue into 2011 and the site has been earmaked for houses though the ground were the gas works stood is still heavily contaminated. I'd like to see it landscaped and made into a canalside urban park as every plot of land available in this area has and is being built on. Even the bombsites (I used to play on as a kid) made by the Luftwaffe during WWII have had houses built on them in recent years.

Jim Page arrived in Seattle in June of 1971. One of the first places he fell in love with was Gasworks Park. He wrote this beautiful song to tell the story of why it's special to him. Gasworks Park is on Jim's 15th album entitled "Seattle Songs." We decided to record the song on the beautiful evening of May 12, 2011. Gasworks Trifecta III - 861, JCRees
Three scenes on the last of this series of trips, run on the famous Puffing Billy railway in Melbourne, Australia. The loco is 861, JCRees, formerly known as John Benn, built as an 0-4-0T in Belgium in 1886 by Couillet. Supplied new to the West Melbourne Gasworks (where it was named John Benn) the locomotive continued in operation until 1941, at that time being stored. In 1961 the locomotives were recovered from their home at West Melbourne, and John Benn was heavily rebuilt, gaining an extended frame, new smokebox and cab, and fitted with a saddle tank. She now is a 2-4-2ST of American appearance. The first scene shows the train climbing uphill from Cockatoo heading towards Gembrook, with some slipping in evidence. The second scene shows how the loco is coupled to the train, using a long bar. The third scene shows the train crossing the Wright trestle on the return journey
