Stephen Patrick David Gately (17 March 1976 -- 10 October 2009) was an Irish pop singer--songwriter, actor, dancer, musician and author, who, with Ronan Keating, was one of two lead singers of the pop group Boyzone.[1] All of Boyzone's studio albums hit number one in the United Kingdom, their third and last being their most successful internationally. With Boyzone Gately had a record-breaking sixteen consecutive singles enter the top five of the UK Singles Chart.[2] He performed for millions of fans globally.[3] He released a successful solo album in 2000, after the group's initial breakup, which charted in the UK top ten and yielded three UK hit singles, including the top three hit "New Beginning". Behind-the-scenes at Radio One's Christmas show in 1996 featuring brief interviews and snippets of a live performance of 'Colours Of The Wind' by Stephen. I have been lucky enough to acquire a large catalogue of Stephen Gately/Boyzone video footage over the last 17 years, the majority of which was recorded during the 1990's. I have started transferring this footage to DVD's to make valuable copies for myself in the event of anything happening to the videos. Never did i think i'd be writing comments like this or making videos like these. I've been a huge fan of Boyzone since i was 10. Am now 25. Stephen was my favourite. I am so shocked at his tragic passing. But i am so grateful to Stephen for all the great memories he, along with the other Boyzone lads, have given me. RIP Steo.
