Ghoulardi 1963

Ernie Anderson's Ghoulardi was Cleveland's most legendary and infamous late night TV horror movie hosts. From 1963-1966 he ruled the airwaves. This clip features his notorious joke about playing poker. How he got away with this in 1964 is anybody's guess.

Ghoulardi - Lights Out and Now the Movies Folks

This is the extremely rare montage song that was first used by Ernie Anderson aka Ghoulardi. This is my video but the music is not. I used this because it is pure nostalgia and the unforgettable theme song of the movies that Ghoulardi, The Ghoul, and Son of Ghoul showed. This music is by the Mad Professor with the tune: Lights Out!

American Scary - Tim Conway on Ernie Anderson (Ghoulardi) - extended interview

This is one of the special features from the DVD of "American Scary" - a extended sequence from our interview Tim Conway, where he talks about working with Ernie Anderson in the days before the creation of Anderson's insanely popular alter-ego, Ghoulardi. "American Scary" was released on DVD in February 2009, and can be purchased from Amazon and other retailers. It is also available through iTunes and Netflix.

American Scary - Ghoulardi section preview

This is a short preview of the Ghoulardi section of the documentary American Scary, which looks at the nation's tradition of horror hosting, from Zacherley to A. Ghastlee Ghoul. Hosts of all kinds were once a staple of television, and especially local television productions. But as production demands and the availability of cheaper syndicated material changed the local TV business model, local hosts were also one of the first things to go, no matter how popular they were with the viewing public. With interviews and footage from major hosts from the 1950s to the present day, such as Zacherley, Vampira, Ghoulardi and others, along with memories from celebrities and fans who were influenced by these hosts, you'll follow this American folk art form from its glamorous beginnings, through repeated waves of popularity in the 1960s and 1970s, to its scrappy resurgence and survival in the current age of cable access and the Internet. American Scary looks to remind people how much fun local TV could be - and maybe could be again. The movie was released on DVD in February 2009, and can be purchased from Amazon and other retailers. It is also available through iTunes and Netflix.

Ghoulardi & Big Chuck - baseball coach

No, this isn't the clip you've seen a million times. This is a sort of alternate take, in which horror host Ghoulardi introduces the new (and lovably inept) pitching coach for the Cleveland Indians, portrayed by a very young Big Chuck.

Very little video of Ernie "Ghoulardi" Anderson actually exists. This is my attempt to re-create an episode using audio recordings of him introducing the movie "The Hypnotic Eye" and my own animation.

Tim Conway & Ernie Anderson Commercial

Early 1960's commercial for Laub bread with Cleveland, OH stars Tim Conway and Ernie Anderson. At this time, Tim was going by Tom Conway, only changing his name when he went to Hollywood because someone else was already using the name Tom Conway. Ernie Anderson would become a legend in Cleveland as horror movie host Ghoulardi, eventually moving to Hollywood to become one of the most recognizable voices on television as the announcer of "The Looove Boat" and "America's Funniest Home Videos." The advertiser, Laub Baking Co., was a Cleveland mainstay from 1889 when immigrant Jacob Laub began selling bread out of his home until the large conglomerate closed in bankruptcy in 1974.
