The happy, ugly, romantic, brutal, cool, 60' . The Rolling Stone song Gimme Shelter was release at he end of 69 (December 5, 1969 according to wiki so I'm not 100% sure about that) .A perfect song to describe peoples feelings during that age. This video was make for a class and to use only for educational-recreational reasons and without intending to obtain some economical benefit. Here is the lyric. Enjoy it. Street Fighting Woman! Merry was the woman dueting with Mick on the Rolling Stones' original 1969 recording of "Gimme Shelter". Who better to interpret it the following year than Merry herself? She's accompanied on keys by her friend, the immeasurably important Billy Preston, who was as much the Sixth Stone as the Fifth Beatle in these years. The galloping roar of guitar may be David T. Walker, although the album credits don't clarify. She was born on Christmas Day, and what a gift! "War, children, is just a shot away/ See the fire is sweeping my very streets today..." Any resemblence between the events in this video and the present day is entirely up to you... Be sure to send some love to Merry on her personal MySpace page!: www.myspace.com (All rights reserved. The Altamont Speedway Free Festival was an infamous rock concert held on Saturday, December 6, 1969, at the Altamont Speedway in northern California, between Tracy and Livermore. Headlined and organized by The Rolling Stones, it also featured, in order of appearance: Santana, Jefferson Airplane, The Flying Burrito Brothers, and Crosby, Stills & Nash, with the Rolling Stones taking the stage as the final act. The Grateful Dead were also scheduled to perform, but declined to play shortly before their scheduled appearance due to the increasing violence at the venue. That's the way things went at Altamont so badly that the Grateful Dead, prime organizers and movers of the festival, didn't even get to play. Approximately 300000 people attended the concert, and some anticipated that it would be a "Woodstock West." The event is best known for having been marred by considerable violence, including one homicide and three accidental deaths: two caused by a hit-and-run car accident and one by drowning in an irrigation canal. Four births were reported during the event as well.Lead singer Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones (who had already been punched by a concertgoer within seconds of emerging from his helicopter)was visibly intimidated by the unruly situation, urging everyone to "Just be cool down in the front there, don't push around." Within a minute of starting their third song, "Sympathy for the Devil", a fight erupted in the front of the crowd, at the foot of the stage. After a ...

This is the story of Viet/Now. The United States government first supports a dictator in a foreign land most Americans know little about. They argue that this country has to be defended to stop an evil threat which will take freedom away like dominoes falling. An American President uses flimsy evidence of a threat to Americans to mislead his public into supporting the war. The media sells the story. A charismatic General heads the campaign with the backing of Congress. The public is full of pride but little knowledge. Young men are drafted into service, mainly from poor and minority areas. They are thrown into alien places to fight for and against a different culture that they can't distinguish. While the poor fight amongst the poor, corporations make record profits by creating military hardware. When atrocities happen, some in the media start to report it. The youth of the world, sympathetic to their soldier peers and angry at the war machine, begin to speak out against the war. This grows to include parents, clergy, unions, teachers, and seniors. The war is sold as protection of democracy, but those who question it are branded traitors. The soldiers are used as a "baby shield" to foster national pride while hiding the motivations of the current administration. A civil war, between generations and idealogies, splits America as well as other nations supplying soldiers for the war. The President responds to these events with more force. Troops are escalated to massive ...

Great show- so much talent in Madison Square Garden the last two nights for these Hall of Fame shows. Gimme Shelter-Mick Bono and Fergie sound good here. Keyboards a little wacky. Ive seen better versions of this song, but, you cant beat Mick singing it.

There have been a few comments as to the nature of this video over the past couple of years. I am the guitarist in the top right corner and I produced this video and this is how I made it. Firstly - The drums were recorded solo in a hall with 2 microphones to a click track. Pro-tools LE was used and I produced the sounds by cutting out the silences and putting samples behind the tom fills and generally using compression and whatever other tricks I know. I always mixed on the worst computer speakers - because thats all I had. The bass was then recorded in a hotel room in Berlin Mitte some weeks later. A few week after that we had a room for a few weeks in Berlin Prenzlauerberg and we recorded the vocals and a few little guitar parts as well as some percussion. That is where production stopped for quite a while. The recording was completed in a rehearsal studio in Berlin Kruezberg - that is where I made the video. I had one camera and pointed it at each member and we played to a click track - that is why the drummer has headphones on. During the video production I plugged a direct output of the amplifier I was using into pro-tools and recorded my performances over the four video takes - and yes I did put a jacket on when it was my turn to be on video, so that is why see me with a t-shirt in the singers frame. After we had recorded the video I mixed in a couple of the live guitar takes into the pro-tools session. So I am actually playing the parts you see in the video, but I ...

Exactly what it says. The Rolling Stones song 'Gimme Shelter' to images of Martin Scorsese's Oscar winning picture 'The Departed' starring; Matt Damon, Leonardo Dicaprio, Jack Nicholson, Martin Sheen, Mark Wahlberg, Alec Baldwin, and Vera Farmiga. It was also produced by Brad Pitt's 'Plan B' the film was released under Warner Bros. It's a remake of a Hong Kong drama/suspense film incredible in it's own right - which spawned two other films in the series and went on to become a classic film series. Those films are called 'Infernal Affairs', and they were released by 'Media Asia' Which also helped produce The Departed.
