Global Game Jam: 48 hours to make a videogame (Boing Boing)

BB Video Archives: www.boingboing.net At 4:45, our host drinks what may be a bottle of pee! Today's episode of Boing Boing Video is our mini-documentary of the Global Game Jam 2009 (globalgamejam.org a worldwide, networked gamebuilding marathon in which participants have exactly 48 hours in which to conceptualize, design, and build a web-based electronic game. Boing Boing Video's Jolon Bankey was the head organizer for GGJ Costa Rica, and team members there sent in video reports as the 48 hour game-in unfolded. I attended the Los Angeles edition with Matty Kirsch. Boing Boing Gadgets editor Rob Beschizza represented us at GGJ Pittsburgh. And Boing Boing friends around the world uploaded video sitreps, shoutouts, and random moments of weirdness with which we've produced this piece. We received video submissions from places as diverse as Australia, Scotland, Israel, Turkey, and Venezuela. Play some of the games! You can browse winning entries, and all of the others who participated, and play on Mac, PC, or other OSes: Game Entry Browser globalgamejam.org Read entire Boing Boing blog post: www.boingboing.net

To do so sacrifices will have to be made, by squishing and dragging a Bewbee. Each sacrificed Bewbee becomes an evolving flower that can be used to lead the Bewbees to their goal. The player only has a fixed amount of Bewbees, therefore he needs to squish Bewbees sparingly. The less Bewbees you squish, the higher the player can score. Global Game Jam 2010: Get Through It!

Peter and I made this adventure game for Game Jam 2010 in 48 hours. The theme of the contest was 'Deception'. The game does this by providing misleading clues. For example, feeding the carrot to the donkey actually makes you lose the game in the end. We also took an extra challenge in using no written text. In the video you see me playing through three times; the third time it's the good ending, which is very hard to achieve if you don't know the game. We used Python and Pygame for the code, GrafX2 and Gimp for the graphics. Sadly no music or sound effects.

Global Game Jam - Interview with ICT students from Rangsit University, International College

Global Game Jam - Interview with some ICT students from Rangsit University, International College. The Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at Rangsit University International College (RIC) was founded in the 1998 scholastic year, with a mission to provide information technology education. For more than 10 years, our department has been a place where students can obtain an outstanding education in information and communication technology and computer science. From 2008, Rangsit and Murdoch University, the state's second university in Australia, signed an agreement to give students who have completed three years of our Information and Communication Technology department at Rangsit the opportunity to complete a double degree with just one extra year of study at Murdoch. This means that students will be given credit for prior learning at our department and as a result will be able to receive a degree from Murdoch after completing two semesters of study in Australia. Our students come from various walks of life, many different cultures, and more than 10 different countries. Now our ICT students are/were from USA, UK, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Bhutan, China, Taiwan, Burma, South Korea, Cameroon and Thailand. Only 30 percent of our students are Thai. By sharing their diverse life experiences, students here can enhance their emotional growth, as well as their educational development. Our faculty members have high levels of expertise and experience in <b>...</b>
