UFOTV: Pulp Fiction - The Golden Age of Sci Fi, Fantasy & Adventure - Full Length Feature

Discover the true behind the scenes history of Pulp Fiction and the Golden age of Sci Fi, Fantasy and Adventure, in this amazing fact filled documentary. American Library Association - Booklist Review: Pulp fiction (named for the low-quality paper on which the stories were printed) blossomed in the early twentieth century. Audiences (beaten down after WWI and the Great Depression) sought tales with strong heroes, exciting adventures, and alien encounters. This entertaining program traces the golden years of pulps, beginning in the 1920s, by highlighting numerous writers (including Earl Stanley Gardner and Edgar Rice Burroughs who turned out hundreds of stories. In interviews, popular and prolific authors Ray Bradbury and Frederik Pohl recall nominal pay, short deadlines, and insatiable demand for copy. Facing competition from movies, paperback books, and television, the demand for pulp fiction dwindled in the 1950s. However, many works have been recently reprinted for readers seeking escapist fiction. Great fun for pop-culture and genre-fiction fans. — Candace Smith, Booklist Featuring * Tim Powers * Kevin J. Anderson * Otto Penzler * Ray Bradbury * Frederik Pohl * Marc Zicree NOW AVAILABLE IN A 2-DVD SPECIAL EDITION -- Loaded with Bonus Features and Interviews - Cat# U688 - Go to www.UFOTV.com.

The Golden Age of Pulp Fiction Stories by L. Ron Hubbard

www.goldenagestories.com The 1930s and 1940s were a vibrant, seminal time for a gigantic audience of eager readers, probably the largest per capita audience of readers in American history. The sheer volume of tales released during this wondrous golden age remains unmatched in any other period of literary history. Pulp fiction authors were no-holds-barred entertainers, real storytellers. They were more interested in a thrilling plot twist, a horrific villain or a white-knuckle adventure than they were in lavish prose or convoluted metaphors. The authors were names such as Edgar Rice Burroughs, Dashiell Hammett, EE Doc Smith, Lester Dent, L. Ron Hubbard and Robert E. Howard who wrote in the tradition of writers such as Jules Verne, Charles Dickens and Alexandre Dumas. These stories are penned by L. Ron Hubbard and will give you a sense of the excitement pulp fiction evokes. Distributed by Tubemogul.

TV interview gone wrong with pulp fiction character Little Tom Little

www.elbowsonthetable.com Little Tom Little is introduced to the ancient art of body-switching. Known as a circus midget and empowered with this new gift he was invited to the TV show Elbows on the Table with Lawrence Carpetburner. However Carpetburner soon finds out that his guest is not who he appears to be. The TV show Elbows on the Table was canceled in the late 50s, some people maintain it was because of the rude show host. LOU & GINNY -"Do I Do Right?" (1958)

The Bad Girls of the golden age of Pulp Horror! While too often women in sci-fi and horror pulp fiction were damsels in distress, there were also plenty who savored walking on the weird side; Satanas, witch queens, sorceresses, mummy mias, phantasmas, beast women, water-breathers, and levitatrixes. (Yes, I made that word up.) From the 30's to the '50's, many rebel women got their vicarous kicks reading about these unapologetic and dark damsels of the disturbed. They haunted the pages of classic mags like AMAZING STORIES and STARTLING STORIES, many of whose iconic covers were painted by Margaret Brundage (0:34) and Virgil Finlay (1:42). The ageless grandmothers of Goth Grrrls, Psychobilly fillies, and Suicidegirls have come for you! It's too late to run. LOU & GINNY was singer Virginia Charland of Minneapolis/ St. Paul, backed by guitarist Louella Mae Marier and Terry Meil on drums. It was released on 45 as HEP 2141 on Sept. 22, 1958. *(special thanks to 'J0KERtm' for extra info!) The Professor was a Thief, a pulp fiction story by L. Ron Hubbard

www.goldenagestories.com Primed for promotion to the World-Journal city editor, grizzled senior reporter Pop is stunned when it's announced that young Leonard Caulborn, the publisher's son-in-law, will get the post. Worse, the lad wants him out. In protest, Pop demands to be given a beat again and gets his wish. . . only now he's got just two days to find the "real" story about a dead-end assignment— a month-old physics lecture— or be fired. When Pop starts searching for the story's source, a professor named Pertwee, he lands in the middle of the story of a century after the Empire State Building, Grant's Tomb and Grand Central Station all disappear. Apparently, Pertwee's the mastermind behind it all. But Pop soon discovers that, instead of inventing a new way to blow things up, the professor may be doing quite the opposite. Some of the more lasting names that graced the pulps include HP Lovecraft, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Robert E. Howard, Max Brand, Louis L'Amour, Elmore Leonard, Dashiell Hammett, Raymond Chandler, Erle Stanley Gardner, John D. MacDonald, Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asimov, Robert Heinlein—and, of course, L. History Hall #1: Origin of the Texas Longhorn

Gary Golden, world-renowned explorer, adventurer, historian and lecturer, has been fascinated with the pulp fiction era ever since he saw his first Lone Ranger toy in the corner antique shop that his grandmother used to take him to on Saturdays—in her search for authentic Victorian lace. It was Gary's passion for the golden age of pulp fiction that eventually led him to become one of the industry's foremost experts in the field, and an avid fan of the Stories from the Golden Age (he is also a book club member, and has correctly answered every single Golden Gazette quiz). Gary enjoys the Golden Age Stories so much—and the fascinating historical accuracy of the tales—that he created his own show: "The History Hall." We are more than delighted to be sharing this first episode with you today: "Origin of the Texas Longhorn." As Gary tells us, "This show was inspired by the L. Ron Hubbard western tale, "Under the Diehard Brand." The origin of the Texas longhorn will both surprise and amaze you." We hope you enjoy it as much as we do, and let us know if you'd like to see more episodes from "The History Hall"—after all, there's always a story to tell.

Get a free book with the purchase of any of the pulp fiction books now published by Galaxy Press. An extremely funny interview gone wrong with Suicide Lee Weston. He is no celebrity but a branded outlaw and he is interviewed by little-remembered talk show host Lawrence Carpetburner on the even less remembered TV show Elbows on the Table. This hilarious and funny TV interview that has gone wrong horribly features our western hero Suicide Lee Weston. It's one of the interviews gone wrong in the Elbows on the Table series. Lee Weston detests being called a gunslinger due to the bad reputation gunslingers carry in the Old West. Lee Weston himself was a branded outlaw but, he asserts, not due to his own doing. He was framed and nearly lynched by an angry mob in the old western town of Pecos which he once called home. Elbows on the Table is a different kind of talk show. Kettering-Fairmont High Performing "If I Were You"

On September 19 and 20, 2009, Nancy had the honor of performing at her Alma Mater, Kettering-Fairmont High School in Kettering, OH. Returning to the theatre that gave her a start, director Ross Taylor cast six highly-gifted young actors to perform with Nancy, with narration by local television celebrity and anchorman for FOX 45, Pete Scalia. The show, which benefited the local literacy group, Project Read, was a staged reading of the pulp-fiction era short story, "If I Were You," by L. Ron Hubbard. Complete with background and cue-specific sound effects, the polished performance brought to life words from the age of popular fiction in America, circa 1930. The young actors, who delivered a truly professional quality performance, included Kevin Erman as the evil Professor; Caroline Grogan as Tom's loyal Maize Little; Jay Kain as the arrogant ringmaster, Mr. Schmidt; Allie Dyer as the lascivious circus owner, Mrs. Johnson; Katherine Ygbuhay as the trapped Betty the Trapeze Artist; and Tim Green as the courageous lion tamer, Jerry Gordon.
