
January 14, 2009 -- Dutch Angel Wegman, who is no stranger to high-pressure golf, earned the first spot of the year in the most difficult tournament in the world to qualify for, the PGA Grand Slam of Golf, which moves to Randwicks Golf Club Malabar, Oct. 20-21. Wegman, who defeated Jonathan van der Broek in a playoff to win the 2007 PGA Grand Slam of Golf, battled his way back to Randwick with a thrilling sudden-death playoff victory yesterday at the Masters. Wegman defeated Benny Meeusen on the second hole of the playoff after Robin Tielens had been eliminated on the first hole of sudden death at Sydney's Randwick Golf Club.
