After so many kilometers on highways and main roads, between villages and along off-road tracks, a little time spent on the water makes for a welcome change. On the morning of the 12th stage, the participants swap their trusty Audi Q3s for narrow bamboo rafts. But the drivers from the third group also make the most of their last kilometers on four wheels before reaching their final destination in Guilin. The tour baton is passed on here to the fourth group. What a shame -- this is the first morning of rain on the Trans China Tour. So far, the Chinese weather god has been smiling benevolently on our travels. The sun shone brightly over Beijing -- a rarity. Bright sunshine over Shanghai -- also not something to take for granted. Slight humidity and a somewhat murky sky over the region around Shenzhen -- completely normal. And now, bang in the middle of a sub-tropical scenic paradise? It is surprisingly cold and wet. The last one hundred kilometers of yesterday's stage saw the outside temperature drop by more than ten degrees, from 28 to 16 degrees Celsius. And this morning brought with it a light drizzle. The stage today takes us from Zhaoqing to Yangshuo along a comparatively modest 412 kilometers in one of China's popular vacation areas. The small motorized bicycle is a truly universal mode of transport. You can use it to transport all kinds of goods in large quantities over long distances... The Trans China Tour has now completed its long-distance stages over many highway kilometers. The huge mega-cities in the east lie behind us and the route takes us now along more peaceful stages. This is clearly evident from the traffic on the roads -- the challenge of "driving in China" has lost some of its edge. For one thing, here in the rural south there is far less traffic and the people at the wheels of the cars and heavy trucks are somewhat more disciplined. For example, the majority of vehicles actually stop at red lights. And, for another, the drivers of the 20 Audi Q3s have adapted very well to the conditions. Everyone proceeds with a great deal of caution. So far, luckily, there have been no accidents - not one of the cars has even a scratch. Obviously, the compact and agile Audi Q3 is the perfect vehicle for this country's roads. Nevertheless, if you look at it with European -- and especially central or northern European -- eyes, this traffic situation in this region, too, is somewhat chaotic. A first very slight feeling of melancholy is starting to set in -- today is the last "real" stage of the Trans China Tour. Tomorrow, the 20 Audi Q3s head for their final destination in Shenzhen, then it is time to say goodbye to this land, this culture and these people. But not quite yet -- first comes today with another mixed portion of China in all its many facets. Cross-country once more -- rice paddies are part of the familiar landscape on the morning of the second-last stage. The morning starts with an off-road tour. That means delving into the rural world, along the rice paddies and through the little villages, the banana groves, the whole sub-tropical vegetation. That also means dusty roads and construction zones. Where a couple of weeks ago there were still gravel tracks, is now rapidly being covered in concrete -- many sections of the new road are already finished. For now, rural development in China means the constant building of infrastructure and transportation routes. But this morning shows once again that it will take a lot of hard work for rural development to even begin to keep up with the dynamism of the cities. What is there to keep young people here in the country? For most, fleeing to the cities is their one hope of a personal future. China and its high-speed leap into the future is, in an unbelievable number of ways, an experiment. We can only hope that the end result is a good one... Today, the Audi Q3 is permitted to show its more robust side -- the road surface changes constantly, aged asphalt with pot holes and bumps, old-fashioned cobblestones, dusty sand and gravel tracks. A few villages look like it has been a very long time indeed since a vehicle passed through -- fruit, building materials, children and chickens are frequent features of this route, and call for extreme vigilance. A lake appears, swollen by a dam and complete with a power station. The project is currently being expanded and a large proportion of the valley we are driving through is set to be submerged in the next few years. And, in a surprising side note, we find that even this tiny road through the middle of nowhere is clearly shown in the MMI navigation system of the Audi Q3. This demonstrates just how well this country has been digitized. The system recognizes a total of three million kilometers of road. The Audi Q3 Trans China Tour heads back to the asphalt and this afternoon passes the Xiamen city boundary. Xiamen is located on an island connected to the mainland by a five-kilometer dam and several bridges. The old town, famous for its colonial architecture, is situated close to the ferry terminal at the southwest of the island. Somewhat outside of the city, close to Xiamen University, the Buddhist Nanputo Temple looks back on more than one thousand years of history and is still in use to this day. Ok, so this isnt a video from Prague, but I did find it in Manc. Airport on the way to Prague. So. After we parked the car I began searcing the CarPark (EVERY time there is something good!!!!!!!) for a good car. I didn't take long. I saw this low, Audi-esque nose pointing out next to some boring normal cars. I knew instantly it was an R8. The only question now was this - V8, or V10????? Well, luckly for me, it was a V10!! I recorded as much of it as I could in the short time I had (Belive me, I had less than a minute!!). This AWESOME car produces around 520bhp from its 5.2 V10; 100 more than its V8 brother!!! Strip away the big wheels, give it a few numberplates and you're looking at the next Audi A3. Audi unveiled this thinly veiled production car at the 2011 Geneva motor show this morning. So this is the next Audi A3? Pretty much, although while it is undoubtedly a sharp looking saloon, from the front three-quarter angle you'd be hard pushed to work out whether this was an A3 or A6. Nevertheless, it's good looking with great proportions, and shows us what the next A3 will look like -- there will be three- and five-door hatchback bodies, plus another Cabriolet and a 'Slantback', a 'four-door coupe' much like the concept unveiled today. The A3 concept also features a few lightweight solutions that Audi is currently readying for production. The new Audi RS3 has carbonfibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) front wings, and on the A3 concept the frame for the big front grille, the front spoiler, rear diffuser and door mirrors are all CFRP. Aluminium is also used in the construction of the door mirrors, and the five-spoke, 20in wheels are CFRP and aluminum. The A3 concept also has aluminium body panels (for the doors, bonnet and bootlid), so it tips the scales at 1540kg. What's under the bonnet? Anything special? Powering the Audi A3 concept is a turbocharged 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine, in the same 402bhp/369lb ft guise as featured in last year's Quattro concept. A detailed look at the stock exhaust and a Vibrant cat-back on my 2001 Audi S4. If you just want to hear the Vibrant's sound, watch 1:50 and onward. Reason is, I threw in a whole bunch of stock footage (might be boring for some). Other mods: K&N panel air filter, 710N diverter valves. No chip. Stock exhaust footage was in limp mode (running 5 PSI). Notes: The Vibrant is perfect for this car. The video really does not do it justice. The car feels a lot better in the top-end, but mostly unchanged (5-10hp or so maybe). Sound is awesome. I don't find any drone or annoyances myself, and enjoy the subtle burbling on throttle lift. From inside the car, this exhaust is only a touch louder than stock, so be aware if you're looking for something really "noticeable", the Vibrant might be a little soft for you. I have not dyno'd the Vibrant yet, so don't know the gains. Also have not done any drive-by vids or anything yet.

Audi tuner ABT Sportline has released its latest take on Ingolstadt's 2011 lineup in the form of the R8 GTS, a worked-over version of Audi's R8 5.2 FSI V10 Cabrio. In ABT guise, the V10 has been boosted to 620 horsepower -- a 95-hp gain over the stock mill. To accentuate the power just a little more, ABT has gotten liberal with the carbon fiber and carbon fiber-reinforced plastic, shaving some weight off the R8's frame. The result is a 3.6-second 0-60 sprint. The exterior has been dipped in a "self confident" red chrome paint, and new composite pieces include the front and rear skirts, the engine cover, the air intakes, and the windshield frame cover. The 2011 ABT R8 GTS rides on a set of 19 or 20-inch custom ABT wheels. Inside, the dress-up kit continues the red carbon fiber theme on the steering wheel, console and door panels.

Volkswagen has unloaded almost all of their world debuts at the Geneva pre-show event this evening - except for one. The Audi A3 sedan concept isn't scheduled to debut until first thing in the morning, but tonight you get an early look. Intended to recapture the glory of the original A4 (B5) that launched in 1994, the A3, shown for the first time as a sedan, features the familiar Audi family grille with LED lined headlamps. Elsewhere, Audi keeps things interesting with agressive bumper fascias, flared fender arches and big 20-inch wheels constructed of carbon fiber and aluminum. Dressed like an future RS model, power arrives via the same 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine found in the RS3 Sportback. However, the A3 sedan concept produces 68 PS (50 kW / 67 bhp) more at 408 PS (300 kW / 402 hp) through a seven-speed S tronic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive. Performance is supercar good with the 0-100 km/h sprint taking 4.1-seconds in the 1540 kg (3400 lb) vehicle.

Even in this mess, the new Maserati Quattroporte is the undisputed center of attention. Maserati enters the luxury-car field against the likes of BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Lexus with the Quattroporte, a cocoon on wheels that features the usual blend of soft leather and rich wood inside with taut Pininfarina styling. The technical package is stunning, too, with a 4.2-liter, dual-overhead-cam V-8 engine that's good for 394 horsepower and 333 pound-feet of torque. Mounted far enough back in the engine bay for an equitable 47/53 percent front/rear weight distribution, it's mated to a six-speed sequential manual gearbox that has an automatic mode. On a good day, the 199-inch-long five-seater will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds and top 170 mph. But despite a cosseting interior, the first six or seven stop-and-go miles in the city of the Medici are a huge disappointment. This is my first video with a dslr, and of course it is a Canon 7d. This camera is absolutely ridiculous, and the fun has only just begun. In the video I am using the canon 50mm 1.8 along with a tokina 11-16. A couple shots I used a custom dolly with focus 35 dolly hubs. This was a pretty quick shoot as well as edit just to get the feel of things. I use FCP for the editing and cinema tools for the slomo.

This Audi probably would have never happened had Porsche gained control of the Volkswagen Group five years earlier. But now the Audi R8 5.2 is out, larger than life and even better than expected. True, the Gallardo is sharper. The SL63 AMG is wilder. And the 911 Turbo is all that in a more compact package. But in terms of total dynamic balance; anyone-can-do-it, A-to-B ground-covering ability; and that all-important blend of confidence, compliance, and comfort, the 5.2-liter V-10-powered R8 is the new leader of the pack. That's the inescapable conclusion after a memorable day in which even losing my driver's license ten times over would not have dimmed the sparkle in my eyes. A police cruiser's dashboard camera captured Monday morning's stunning crash on Interstate 675 near Dayton. The video shows a 1985 Pontiac Firebird passing by in the median, striking a culvert on the ground and then being launched into the air. The car slams into the overpass, turning into a shower of parts. The State Highway Patrol says driver Brennan Eden was ejected onto a highway shoulder. Troopers say he was alert and conscious after the crash. Investigators are trying to determine how fast the car was going.
