Graeme Crosby - early motorcycle racing career-4

During the mid 70's New Zealand became a destination in the European off season for a lot of energetic riders with ambition. Racing in New Zealand during this time gave them both continued competition and a chance to try new modifications. It also showcased some very quick equipment with factory Suzukis, Kawasakis and Yamahas being involved in pre-season testing. The competition was fierce with names like Pat Hannen, Randy Mamola, Greg Hansford, Warren Willing, Mortimer, Avant, Wyle, Woodley, Fletcher, Coburn, Cooley and a bloke with a modified road bike - CROZ! The Marlboro series was contested over 5 rounds. Pukekohe in Auckland, Porirua in Wellington's Lower Hutt industrial estate, on the streets of Wanganui on Boxing day 26th December and in the South Island at Ruapuna in Christchurch along with Levels Raceway in Timaru. Classic Racer: We Ride the Mountain with Croz, Almost - Exclusive

Never one to miss an opportunity Malc Wheeler tagged along when Graeme Crosby got to ride a lap of the TT Mountain Course, on his original XR69 at the Manx Grand Prix Festival. As is often the case on Mona's Isle things didn't go quite to plan. It's the first thing you forget about racing on the TT Mountain Course, sometimes it rains! Which of course is what it did the moment Kiwi ace Graeme Crosby and me were directed to the start line for our ride on the best 37.73 miles of tarmac in the world. And then it poured down. When I heard that Croz, one of the nicest guys you'll meet in our sport, was to do a parade lap of the Mountain between races at this years Manx I started to hatch a plan to tag along. Our original plan looked pretty impressive. Croz was set to ride the original Suzuki diesel from Steve Wheatman's impressive, and still growing, collection on which he won one of his TT's and I would ride shotgun on the John Sims built XR 69 replica on which Michael Dunlop won last years Classic Superbike race. That was before lady luck took a hand. Michael Dunlop's new 2011 XR69 replica was lacking a few horse power which saw him revert to the tried and tested winner from the year before. So it was back to plan B, which luckily I had hatched the weekend before. A chance meeting with Chris Barratt, who has a small but very tasty collection of racing two-strokes, resulted in him offering me a ride on his TZ750 Yamaha. Chris was on the Island for the Festival of Jurby, so ...

David Crosby & Graham Nash with Neil Young - KSAN Benefit For Prisoners Rights - Part 3 of 3

I edited a very hot, very special Benefit Concert for Prisoners Rights. With David Crosby, Graham Nash and Neil Young doing an Accoustic set of great tunes, put on by Radio Station, KSAN, Jive '95, San Francisco at Bill Graham's famous Winterland Ballroom Arena in 1972. Some friends & I went to this show. It was one of the rowdiest but peaceful, Winterland crowd shows there was. A friend of mine who could not go with us recorded it off the KSAN broadcast onto a 1970, 4 Head - TEAC Real to Real his Dad owned. I recorded it from there, the next day after the Concert, onto two cassette tapes. It's just about 1:15 minutes long. And now onto Digital! LONG LIVE WINTERLAND! Sorry, YouTube made me split this up, so here's the edited tracks, including some small talk on Prisoners Rights seperated into three segments. Part 1: Wooden Ships, Harvest, Only Love Can Break Your Heart Part 2: Immigration Man, Heart Of Gold, Needle And The Damage Done, Teach Your Children Part 3: Military Madness, Chicago, Bill Graham Outro.

Tribute to the Superbikes

The worlds first 'Superbike' was built by the legendary brothers Ross and Ralph Hannan in the mid/late 70's. First ridden successfully in Australia and overseas, including the Suzuka 8 hour and the Bol d'Or 24 hour endurance races, by kiwi Graeme Crosby who went onto International success and was eventually inducted into the NZ sports "Hall of Fame". Superbike racing is very popular with manufacturers, since it helps promote and sell their product, as captured by the slogan "Win on Sunday; Sell on Monday". David Crosby and Graham Nash Perform at Occupy Wall Street

"I don't think we have performed without microphones for a long time," Graham Nash said with a laugh this afternoon as a van carried him and David Crosby down to the Occupy Wall Street protests where amplified sound is infamously prohibited. "It's going to be fun, though." Upon arriving at lower Manhattan's Zuccotti Park, Crosby and Nash walked into the busy tent city and climbed atop an embankment to widespread cheers. "Everybody calm down! It's very crowded!" someone shouted, as the densely packed masses (including lots of professional photographers) pressed in on all sides. When the audience had settled down, Crosby and Nash launched into a powerful five-song acoustic set. Someone in the crowd held up an old vinyl copy of Crosby, Stills and Nash's 1969 debut LP as they opened with that album's "Long Time Gone"; by the second chorus, a healthy contingent was singing along. The duo continued with a stirring rendition of Nash's "Military Madness," an even more moving a cappella turn on Crosby's "What Are Their Names" - whose haunting, accusatory lyrics made it feel like an unofficial Occupy anthem - and a slow-burning tear through Crosby and Nash's more recent anti-corporate indictment "They Want It All." "You know this song," Nash said finally. "So help us sing it, all right?" It was their classic "Teach Your Children," and sure enough, what seemed like hundreds of voices joined in. After the final number, Crosby and Nash led the crowd in a series of chants: "KEEP GOING ...

Crosby Nash BBC Simple Man - Marrakesh Express (1 of 5)

These videos are from a September 11 1970 half hour television performance Graham and David did for the BBC. It was right after CSNY had finished their famous...or infamous... four way street summer tour. with stories of epic melt downs and cosmic feedings between them all, the all star endeavor which had only began two years prior had all but imploded on itself. Fortunately, all of the guys didn't abandon their relationships all together. Neil recruited Stephen, David, and Graham for backing vocals on After the Gold Rush and Harvest. Crosby invited, among other amazing musicians, Nash, and Young to sing and play on his consummate album If I Could Only Remember My Name. (Interestingly, of all the musicians David invited to play on his album: Nash, Young, Jerry Garcia,Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart,Bill Kreutzmann, Jorma Kaukonen, Joni Mitchell, Grace Slick, David Freiberg, Paul Kantner, Jack Casady, Gregg Rolie, and Michael Shrieve...missing was Stephen Stills) Of all the members of CSNY David and Graham's relationship seemed to be the one that stayed most friendly. In these videos you can really see how jovial and genuinely humorous they were with each other and with their audience. not to mention their majestic vocal blending. (the two part harmonies, which sound like five part, on Guinnevere and Song With no Words are particularly mind blowing) If you dig this flavor of Crosby and Nash i would recommend finding a copy of their 10/10/1971 live recording Another Stoney Evening ...
