About Hachikō on Wikimedia: In 1924, Hachikō was brought to Tokyo by his owner, Hidesamuroh Ueno (上野英三郎), a professor in the agriculture department at the University of Tokyo. During his owner's life, Hachikō saw him off from the front door and greeted him at the end of the day at the nearby Shibuya Station. Even after Ueno's death in May 1925, Hachikō returned every day to the station to wait for him, and did so for the next 10 years.

Hachiko: A Dog's Story (my clip)

Hachiko, the legendary Japanese akita, proves that there is nothing more loyal than mans best friend in this modern retelling of a cherished true story. It all begins when a college professor adopts an abandoned dog named Hachiko. The two form such a strong bond that Hachiko walks with the professor to the train station each morning and returns to the station each evening to walk the professor home again. The routine continues until one day the professor does not return to the train station. Hachiko, however, does not give up. He returns to the same train station at the same time, faithfully waiting for his owner to return. Hachiko does this for more than nine years, until his own death. This heartwarming tale that is already the stuff of legend in Japan is finally making its way to America by way of prominent director Lasse Hallström. With an equally capable cast, the experience of Hachikos unending loyalty is certain to stay with you. Hachikos story is one of love, unwavering devotion, and the resounding impact one dogs affection can make. Hachiko A Dog's Story - Official Movie Trailer

Hachiko: A Dog's Story is a 2009 American drama film based on a true story from Japan about the faithful dog Hachiko who waited for nine years for his master to fetch him at the train station (hachiko's waiting place when his master arrive from work). His faithfulness to his master's memory impressed the people of Japan as a spirit of family loyalty all should strive to achieve. A well-known Japanese artist rendered a sculpture of the dog, and throughout the country a new awareness of the Akita breed grew. Hachiko's legendary faithfulness became a national symbol of loyalty.

This is a real life story and experience of a dog who is very loyal to his master in Japan. The dog's name is Hachiko. Hachiko was an Akita Inu breed originating from countries Sakura Japanese. This large-sized dogs outside their places of origin of the Akita Prefecture, also called Ken Akita (Akita dog). Make no mistake, this is not the same dog with American Akita. Akita Inu is one of six Japanese dog breeds. These dogs include the new breed, and the newly recognized as a race dog about 100 years ago. Wiki - Hachikō (ハチ公?, November 10, 1923--March 8, 1935), known in Japanese as chūken Hachikō (忠犬ハチ公?, "faithful dog Hachikō" ('hachi' meaning 'eight', a number referring to the dog's birth order in the litter, and 'kō', meaning prince or duke)), was an Akita dog born on a farm near the city of Ōdate, Akita Prefecture,[1] remembered for his remarkable loyalty to his owner, even many years after his owner's death. The professor had suffered from a cerebral hemorrhage and died, never returning to the train station where Hachikō was waiting. Every day for the next nine years the golden brown Akita waited at Shibuya station. The permanent fixture at the train station that was Hachikō attracted the attention of other commuters. Many of the people who frequented the Shibuya train station had seen Hachikō and Professor Ueno together each day. They brought Hachikō treats and food to nourish him during his wait. Hachiko Before the Japan/Paraguay Match! Go Nippon!

The locals go crazy here in Tokyo just before the Japan vs. Paraguay World Cup match begins. Filmed on my phone at Hachiko Crossing the famed street corner from the film "Lost in Translation." Honestly... I rarely see the locals this excited. Very cool. I hope they win. ¨***Update*** Japan should walk away from the field feeling like champs. They've done better than any previous Japanese world cup team. They deserved the win, but lost on penalty kicks. Tense to the end it was a fantastic showing for Nippon. Congrats to the players for a solid showing. I predict a solid future for the team. Only 10 years ago Asian football teams were a joke. Not anymore! Omedetou!

Hachiko's Song (Waiting For Someone)

"HACHIKO'S SONG" BY JIMMY SCOTT - FROM THE CD "A SONGWRITER'S NOTEBOOK" AVAILABLE AT www.cdbaby.com as well as itunes, amazon etc There once was a man so an old story goes Went to the station every day rain or snow His faithful dog would walk right by his side And sit there and wait till he came home at night And when the man died the dog still would go To the station each day Why? No one knows ... He was waiting for someone he loved Waiting for someone he loved Someone he believed in someone he could trust Day after day waiting for someone he loved Days turned to weeks and months turned to years Trains came and went but the dog still appeared Hoping to see the face he adored His old true companion - the one he lived for But then came a night when the dog finally died Now I know he's there walking by his master's side He's been waiting for someone he loved Waiting for someone he loved Someone he believed in someone he could trust Don't you think humans could learn from that dog ? Now I don't know about all of you But I wish that my heart was so true To think he could miss him that much He spent all his life waiting for someone he loved copyright 2009 English Channel Music/ Ascap www.jimmyscottsongwriter.com
