Coven - The White Witch Of Rose Hall (1969) USA Psych Music

Coven - The White Witch Of Rose Hall (1969) Jinx Dawson was a native of Indianapolis, Indiana who began studying opera and the occult in the late 1960s. She, Ross, and Osborne formed Coven in Chicago in the late 1960s. In 1967 to 1968 they toured on concert bills with Jimmy Page's Yardbirds, the then glam band Alice Cooper, and Vanilla Fudge, among many others. Jinx began and ended each Coven concert with the sign of the horns, being the first to introduce this hand sign into rock pop culture. They were signed to Mercury Records, where they put out their first album, Witchcraft Destroys Minds and Reaps Souls in 1969. The music on the album was hard rock psychedelia; what made it distinctive was the heavy emphasis on diabolical subject matter, including songs such as "The White Witch of Rose Hall" (based on the story of Annie Palmer), "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge", and "Dignitaries of Hell". The album concluded with a 13 minute track of chanting and Satanic prayers called "Satanic Mass" (written by their producer, Bill Traut, of Dunwich Productions). Also included inside the album, was Coven's infamous Black Mass poster, showing members of the group displaying the sign of the horns as they prepared for a Satanic ritual over the naked altar. This is the first photographed use of the Horned Hand Salute and the Inverted Cross in rock music pop culture, Coven being the first occult rock band and the pioneers in that genre. Greg Ball announces run for congress

Yorktown Heights, NY -- Surrounded by friends, family and supporters, Assemblyman Greg Ball (R,C,I--Patterson) formally announced that he is launching a campaign for the 19th Congressional District on Saturday. "Now is the time to reclaim America's promise to our kids, our seniors, our veterans, our immigrants and our small business owners. This is going to be a positive campaign to reclaim the American dream for blue collar families in the Hudson Valley ," Ball said during the event at Murphy's Restaurant in Yorktown Heights, New York. Ball, who received a nomination to the United States Air Force Academy from former Congresswoman Sue Kelly, said he was kicking off his campaign in Westchester County because he intends to win the county, and pointed to his successful work across party lines in the state. "Greg is right for these difficult times," added Westchester Legislator George Oros, a one-time candidate for the seat. "He will provide the bold new leadership that Washington now lacks." Ball said that four years ago, as a political newcomer, he decided to run for the State Assembly in response to a dysfunctional state government, escalating state debt, and skyrocketing property taxes. The choice also meant taking on an entrenched incumbent, whose family held the seat for nearly eight decades, though Ball won that fight with nearly 72% of the vote. "Democracy is not a spectator sport and I am in this fight not to tear down the incumbent, but to restore America's promise ...
