A cover of The Roches' Hammond Song. The Roches were always a big part of my childhood and my family, and through the years their songs have found a deep resting place in the back of my mind and the middle of my heart. I've had the pleasure of seeing them on multiple occasions, and they're even smarter and funnier (and more talented) than ever. Download: billeager.com

Whim's 30th anniversary at Battell Chapel on March 26, 2011. Thirty years of Yale women are singing the traditional closing song. Sorry for the fuzziness - I need a better camera!

(Words & Music by Margaret A Roche) Lyrics: If you go down to Hammond you'll never come back In my opinion you're on the wrong track We'll always love you but that's not the point If you go with that fella forget about us As far as I'm concerned that would be just throwing yourself away not even trying Come on you're lying to me Well I went down to Hammond I did as I pleased I ain't the only one who's got this disease Why don't you face the fact you old upstart We fall apart You'd be okay if you'd just stay in school Don't be a fool Do your eyes have an answer to this song of mine They say we meet again on down the line Where is on down the line how far away? Tell me I'm okay If you go down to Hammond you'll never come back

Albert Hammond (born 18 May 1944, London, England) is a Gibraltarian-British singer, songwriter and music producer. He also wrote songs for others with frequent collaborator Mike Hazlewood. These include "Little Arrows" for Leapy Lee, "Make Me An Island" (1969) and "You're Such a Good Looking Woman" (1970) for Joe Dolan (which Hammond himself re-recorded in 1979, in a Spanish disco-style version), "Gimme Dat Ding" for The Pipkins in 1970 (itself a cover from the Freddie and the Dreamers album, Oliver in the Overworld), "Good Morning Freedom" for Blue Mink, "Freedom Come, Freedom Go" for The Fortunes in 1971 and "The Air That I Breathe" which was a hit for The Hollies in 1974. In 1971. Hammond also found time to sing on Michael Chapman's fourth album, Wrecked Again, and worked briefly with The Magic Lanterns on recordings of his and Hazlewood's songs and other material. He later moved to the United States, where he continued his professional career as a musician. He is known for his hits of the 1970s, released on Columbia subsidiary Mums Records, such as: 1. "It Never Rains in Southern California" 2. "The Free Electric Band" (the only single of his to chart in the UK) 3. "I Don't Wanna Die in an Air Disaster" 4. "I'm a Train" 5. "Down by the River" "It Never Rains in Southern California" reached number five in the American Billboard Hot 100 chart and became a million-seller around the world, the first in a string of eight charting singles that Hammond enjoyed over the next ...

The Beatles - You Won't See Me 1965 "You Won't See Me" is a song by The Beatles, from the album Rubber Soul. Though credited to Lennon/McCartney, it was written by Paul McCartney. This is one of the few songs where McCartney sings lower harmony while Lennon and Harrison sing higher harmony together. The song is about a crisis in McCartney's relationship with his then-girlfriend Jane Asher. She was rejecting him by not returning phone calls and ignoring him — for once, he was in a vulnerable position. The more biting tone of the song marks a change away from his earlier, happier love songs. "You Won't See Me" was recorded during the last session for Rubber Soul. At 3:22, the song was the longest that The Beatles had recorded to that point and marked a trend by Bob Dylan and others at the time to start writing longer songs.[1] Mal "Organ" Evans (one of The Beatles' roadies throughout their career) is credited on the album sleeve as having played Hammond organ on this track, his contribution consisting solely of an A note quietly held throughout the last part of the song.[1] "You Won't See Me" was never a part of The Beatles' concert repertoire, but McCartney played the song live during his 2005-2006 concert tour. Paul McCartney -- vocal, bass, piano George Harrison -- backing vocal, lead guitar John Lennon -- backing vocal Ringo Starr -- drums, tambourine, hi-hat Mal Evans -- Hammond organ In other news, I have added the lyrics to this song so you can sing along, or perhaps ...
