Three Basic Handgun Types

A basic look at the three most common types of handguns: single action, double action, and semi-automatic. The firearms are a 2nd Generation Colt SAA in .45 Colt, a beautiful .44 magnum 629 in 3" barrel, and a Colt Series '80 Model 1991 in 45 ACP. This is mostly for the novice shooter, the beginner. Based on questions I get, I know I assume more knowledge than some of our newest shooters possess yet. I'll try to do more videos of this nature and even create a PLAYLIST for BASICS. I think we do a lot to help out new shooters, but I realize that I assume a certain level of knowledge in most of my videos and likely talk over some people's heads. Of course, when one is 6'8", he's always talking over people's heads. :-) By the way, I think people totally new to guns get a pretty good idea about what these three main action types are about. If you want to get more complex, add your own approach, or expand upon it, please help yourself to doing a video on it yourself.

Major Handgun Actions Throughout US History

For Tim Rodenburger's US military history class. Here I demonstrate the major handgun action types present in the US military throughout US history. Combat accuracy between all types presented is effectively identical and thus not relevant. All are easily capable of hitting a man sized target at typical handgun distances. The major advances in handgun actions, from a solders perspective, has generally involved the number of shots between reloads, the reload time, and the ease of reloads; which is what I will primarily demonstrate in this video. The guns used are not types issued by the US military, but serve as analogs to demonstrate the different action. The guns used in this demonstration in order presented. Book Review: Collector's Guide to Imperial Japanese Handguns 1893-1945

Most folks are not familiar with the variety of Japanese handguns available beyond the basic Type 94 and Type 14 Nambus. James Brown's guide to these guns is an excellent source of information, covering the rarer handguns used by Japan as well as the variants and manufacturing changes of the main types. Like Japanese rifles, the deterioration of production through the course of the war makes the pistols pretty interesting for collectors. www.forgottenweapons.com

S&W M&P 22 Pistol, the .22 version of M&P 9/40 (Part 2) Range review

Smith and Wesson 22 Military and Police (M&P22) Pistol, chambered in .22LR rimfire. This is a range review, I fired approx 150 rounds of CCI Mini-Mag 40 grain, and Federal Value Pack. This pistol function perfect, I had no jams or problems of any type. Summary of what I am saying in the video: I fired CCI mini mags, and Federal Value Pack, the gun was fine with both, no problems. The magazine holds 12 rounds. The magazine is easy to load by hand, the spring tension is easy to operate. After the range session, I did a field-strip and cleaning: I did not notice any metal shavings or wear patterns, everything looked okay. Some people on-line have asked me to try different types of ammo, but I only have these two types of ammo on-hand (CCI and Federal). I've had problems in previous rimfire firearms with Remington Golden Bullet and Winchester 333, so I don't buy them anymore. I fire the M&P .22 with the M&P 9mm and show a side-by-side shooting comparison. Comparing the 3 firearms side-by-size: Ruger 22/45, M&P 22, and M&P 9 Pro. It's only been 150 rounds but the trigger on the M&P 22 takes a bit more force, it is a clean break but is heavier than the M&P Pro trigger. I'm very satisfied with this firearm, especially that it was new and ran without any jams or problems right out-of-the-box.I had to adjust my point-of-aim on the M&P 22 vs my M&P 9mm, one needs to hold at he top of the metal plate and another needs to hold at the bottom of the plate. But I can adjust he sights so ...

HI-POINT C9 PISTOL: Affordable Self Defense Firearm

For entertainment purposes only. This video is proof that the Hi-Point performs very well for the 100-180 dollars that is spent on it (depends on your area). I had zero malfunctions during this range visit. I fired a total of 100 rounds, and there have been a total of 750 rounds fired through it since I purchased it. This weapon will hold it's own against the higher priced brands out there, and this video proves it. In case you are wondering, my background in the world of firearms is as follows: 25 years total shooting experience (started when I was 6 years old). I have two years total accumulated experience as a military firearms instructor focusing on close quarters tactics, and basic/advanced weapons handling. I have a total of 11 years of service in the US military, and have one combat tour in Iraq under my belt. I am familiar with the use of rifles of all types, shotguns of all types, semi-automatic handguns, and revolvers. I am not an expert (I don't believe anyone truly is an expert), but I am far from an amateur. If you think that the Hi-Point is utter crap, and only idiots, and amateurs to the world of firearms own them, PROVE IT!!! I am tired of all the idiots making it their mission to bad mouth every person that chooses to purchase a Hi-Point. It's not the price of the gun that makes it deadly. It's the person holding the gun.

Resident Evil 4 (PC) Mercenaries - Handgun(s) Only Wesker

Wesker on WaterWorld, handgun(s) only. The reason for this is due to the fact he can pickup so many types of ammo and grenades that for just a basic handgun only on him is near impossible, unlike for someone like Leon who only gets two types of ammo and some grenades. Gave it a try with the intent of breaking 60k and actually surviving. It's tough, but mananaged to pull it off - Sadly, I realised when I did that sound was turned off on Fraps, gah! Sound had to throw in some music with the clip, Wesker is fighting for Bovine Freedom! This is not a show of great skill, scores or combos, just a fun way to play waterworld as Wesker and a real fight to survive. EU PC Version. The Luger P08 Pistol

The Parabellum-Pistole (Pistol Parabellum), popularly (but incorrectly) known as the Luger, is a toggle locked, recoil operated, semi-automatic pistol. The design was patented by Georg J. Luger in 1898 and produced by German arms manufacturer Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken (DWM) starting in 1900; it was an evolution of the 1893 Hugo Borchardt designed C-93. The Luger was made popular by its use by Germany during World War I and World War II. Though the Luger pistol was first introduced in 7.65x22mm Parabellum, it is notable for being the pistol for which the 9x19mm Parabellum cartridge was developed. --Design-- The Luger uses a toggle-lock action, which utilizes a jointed arm to lock, as opposed to the slide actions of almost every other semi-automatic pistol. After a round is fired, the barrel and toggle assembly (both locked together at this point) travel rearward due to recoil. After moving roughly one-half inch (13 mm) rearward, the toggle strikes a cam built into the frame, causing the knee joint to hinge and the toggle and breech assembly to unlock. At this point the barrel stops its rearward movement (it impacts the frame), but the toggle and breech assembly continue moving (bending the knee joint) due to momentum, extracting the spent casing from the chamber and ejecting it. The toggle and breech assembly subsequently travel forward (under spring tension) and the next round from the magazine is loaded into the chamber. The entire sequence occurs in a ...

Sig P250: Hall of Fame Combat Pistol by Nutnfancy

If you can master the trigger, this is a great combat worthy handgun. The Sig P250 flexes into multiple POUs and even surprises us as a "mailing gun" due to its modular component break down (thought of by a TNPr). It is a perfect choice as a "wife gun," combat sidearm, home defense option, and in its smallest sub-compact form, as a carry pistol. In the form the slide has been reduced to 1.1". And while Sig touts the caliber interchange on the P250 and it's worth touting, I found it to be most advantageous in saving money! Practice in 9mm and then carry in your other favorite caliber if you want: .357 Sig, .40 S&W, or .45 ACP (heavily tested here). Weight on these guns is decent. The full sized version was the test bed here, weighing in at 31 oz for the .45 ACP and 29 oz for the 9mm configuration. The sight radius is longer than our beloved Sig P226. In this updated testing and review on the type, I found the Gen 2 P250 balance and ergos to be almost perfect: grip shape, stippling, slide serrations, night sights (included), mag release, undercut and squared trigger guard (rounded in subcompact version), clean and simple controls, and even the trigger. Yes, as I noted in my 2009 review, its still a DAO affair and you gotta' be a good marksman to deal with that. But I found it does not handicap the design. In my extensive testing of the .45 ACP and 9mm version, the P250 shoots fast enough and with astounding accuracy (shown). From standing position at 15 yds I achieved one ...

The Soviet/Russian Stechkin APS pistol

Type Double action, select-fire Caliber 9x18 mm PM Overall length 225 mm Weight: 1020 g with empty magazine; 1220 g loaded with 20 rounds Barrel length 140 mm Magazine capacity 20 rounds Rate of fire 600 rounds per minute The development of the selective fire, large military pistols, intended for military personnel as a personal defense weapon, was started in USSR in the late 1920s, but eventually lead to no success. But, after the end of 2nd World war, this idea was resurrected and, with the introduction of the new 9mm cartridge Soviet Army requested for a large, semiautomatic pistol, capable of controllable full automatic fire and fitted with detachable shoulder stock. Such weapon, designed by the Igor Stechkin in Tula was adopted by Soviet Army in 1951, along with the Makarov PM pistol in the same caliber. New pistol, designated as the "APS - Automaticheskij Pistolet Stechkina" (Stechkin Automatic Pistol), was issued to artillery, tank and armored carrier crews, RPG-7 carriers in the infantry, front line officers. But it soon was discovered that the APS, with its bulky and heavy holster / shoulder stock, is awkward to carry, and lacks the power for a military weapon, so it was gradually removed from army service and put in reserve storage. During the 1970s, however, small quantities of existing APS pistols were fitted with new, extended barrels, with threaded muzzle parts. These pistols, designated APSB, were intended for SpetsNaz use and issued with quick-detachable ...

KelTec PMR-30 22 Magnum Pistol Review (The Poor Man's FN57)

TWEET This Video! clicktotweet.com TWITTER: www.twitter.com FACEBOOK: www.FaceBook.com Google+: plus.google.com I was fortunate enough to get a PMR 30 on loan from Tactical Gun Review.com (TGR). This thing is a PURE joy to shoot! Aside from having what I believe is an acceptable magazine capacity (interject super big smile here), the pistol shot flawlessly with the two types of ammo I had on hand. The recoil was next to nothing and the fireball out the muzzle was exciting. The weight of the pistol was nearly nothing. I wore the PMR-30 in a holster on my hip for the better part of the day while roaming the countryside with the family. I almost never knew it was there because of the weight, or lack of. I may have to pick one of these up for myself down the road. NOTE: "The Gap" I referred to in the video got me thinking. So I looked in a couple of gun magazine publications and found a marketing photo for the PMR-30. The gun in the photo also had the gap. So maybe it's supposed to be there, but why? The only reason I can think of is that there needs to be a little room for the slide to clear the frame under recoil. I suspect during recoil that the plastic frame is flexing and if there was a tight fit between frame and slide, the slide may hit the end of the frame. But this is only a guess. Never the less, I think it is a fun pistol. See www.TacticalGunReview.com for in depth user reviews on guns and optics.

Automatic Pistol Malfunctions

Quick video on types of pistol malfunctions and appropriate remedies. Type 1 Malf - FTF - Fail to fire. Ideally on a range you would wait 10 seconds in case of a delayed primer. In reality or in an actual drill or fight, you would TAP, RACK, BAM. Tap the magazine to ensure a proper seat, as this is typically a cause of a FTF, RACK the slide to the rear and slap your shoulder (this prevents you from assisting the slide forward and failing to get into full battery). Type 2 Malf - FTE - Fail to extract. "Stovepipe" or "Smokestack". Your brass failed to fully eject. Same remedy as Type 1. Type 3 Malf - Double Feed - What I call malfunction from hell. Some call it the mother of all malfunctions. Brass is in the chamber and another round is being forced into it, pinned between the slide and the empty brass in the chamber. STOP, communicate that you have a malfunction, "Malfunction! Malfunction! Malfunction!", take a knee, LOCK your slide to the rear, DROP your magazine by pressing your mag release, RACK, RACK, RACK (rack your slide 3x), visualize the brass coming out of your chamber or flying away and visualize your chamber to ensure it is indeed clear. (You don't want to repeat the problem by introducing a good mag into a bad situation). ACCESS your NEW magazine/good mag, and place into the pistol, RACK and send it home into full battery. Communicate you are good to go, back in the fight or ready for drill. *Fail to go into full battery is easy to remedy. Tap the back of the ...

Sometimes it can be had for under $300 which makes the P95 an incredible value. This is the KP95PR15 model using a ambidextrous hammer dropping, manual safety. Other features include a stainless steel investment cast slide, matte-finished reinforced-polymer frame, a Picatinny-style accessory rail, ambi mag release, 15 round steel magazine, and high contrast sights. I haven't shot the P95 but associates indicate it is reliable and accurate, although maybe not to Glock or Sig standards. Upsides would therefore include: good reliability and accuracy, lightweight (but still 5 oz heavier than Glock 17), easy take down, ergonomic feeling, good grip angle, good sights, good SA/DA trigger, durable, and acceptance of lighting products. Downsides might include: thicker than other designs, bulkier appearance, bulky slide release leaver, and goofy-looking safety design. But these are minor criticisms on a well-executed 9mm service type pistol. It will be hard to match its performance at this price point. Nutnfancy Likability Scale: 7 out of 10 ** Thanks goes to VanWagenen's in Provo, Utah, USA for hosting this review. Without them it would not be possible. This is another "combat" review by Nutnfancy ie an impromptu, non-scripted, non-researched review of the weapon using my existing knowledge. Some details and omissions should be expected. Hi-Point Pistols: "I Wish I Could Hate This" by Nutnfancy

This is a gun I'd love to hate. Seriously. It has some issues to be sure. Its blowback operation makes the gun ungainly, heavy, and bulky. The Hi-Point C9 9mm weighs 32 oz and other calibers weigh even more. And for that weight you only get a single stack 8 round magazine. That's some real sucky firepower fort that weight and size. Yikes dude, yikes. Add in a horrible trigger, slick grips, a thick slide, a tedious fieldstrip, and "kerchunking" recoil impulse and you have the makings for a disaster of a gun. And like many things in life you will have to dig deeper than an outside look to find the beauty of the Hi-Points. Only through a determined testing regime did I end up respecting the Hi-Point pistols. Initially some failures ensued (shown) and along with the horrific ergonomics, started my personal downward spiral of hate for the design. And yet I perservered in the test...there had to be some redemption for this pistol. There was. Subsequent outings in the Hi-Point C9 (after an easy parts replacement) made reliability 100% with all ammo types tried. And then there was the accuracy. The non-tilting barrel hit steel and paper with regularity and consistency. Other Hi-Point pistols were also shot for this review and they too were very accurate. The high viz adjustable sights help and allow for POI corrections. With these guns running 100%, the value factor on the Hi-Point pistols is smokin'. And if they're not, take advantage of the lifetime warranty given by Beemiller ...

Fallout 3 All Unique Weapons - Zhu-Rong v418 Chinese Pistol

www.youtube.com Click here to watch "Dead Space 2: Prologue [Fear with me - part1]" ---------- Unique Chinese Pistol. Its barrel is designed such that the 10mm bullet is virtually melted into molten metal by extreme friction once it speeds out of the gun. Once the bullet strikes a surface, it forms into a fiery, miniature explosion. The resulting explosion has a very high chance of igniting flammable substances. The v418 is more powerful than either the 10mm Pistol or the standard Chinese Pistol. Although its damage might not be quite up to par with other more powerful sidearms, the v418 is still a decent weapon if only because of its unique incendiary properties. One weakness is that the v418 has a slower rate of fire to prevent overheating. It can be repaired with standard Chinese Pistols. The v418 can be obtained from the LOB Enterprises located in Falls Church. It can be reached by traveling through Grayditch then the Marigold Metro Station. The firearm is in a case located in the East Wing. This gun is most likely a Type 17, a Chinese copy of the German C96 Broom-handle Mauser pistol. It has Chinese writing on both sides of the frame, similar to the Type 17. The name is a reference to the ancient Chinese god of fire, Zhu Rong.
