Macedonian Movie "Days of Temptation" (original: Денови на искушение) from 1965, directed by Branko Ivanovski Gapo In 1918, after the end of the Balkan Wars and the First World War, hundreds of Macedonians immigrated to Bulgaria. Among them there were pro-Bulgarian Macedonians who wanted to exploit the emigrants for their own political purposes. A number of decent freedom fighters were eliminated. The victim of one of the assassins in Sofia was Gjorche Petrov. His assassin is a young boy who doesn't even know that he is shooting dead the man who is one of the last real fighters for the freedom of Macedonia. By discovering that he has been unknowingly involved in the pro-Bulgarian organization and has been used for an execution of this vile act, it means the death sentence for the young boy. The play "Blackness" by Kole Chashule is based on a political murder, the assassination of Djorche Petrov by the pro-Bulgarian "vrhovists" in Sofia, in 1921. The play presents the background of this violent act, and its preparation. The screenplay was adapted by Dimitar Solev and Gane Todorovski and in their work they mostly follow the dramatic structure. The idea of screening the play was put forward after its remarkable theatre success. What the filmmakers had was a fixed situation in which they were supposed to introduce elements of referential structure, which would deeply intrude into the idea of the play.
