The very first Volvo car, the ÖV4 (later nicknamed Jakob) was built in 1927. Hot Rod maker Leif Tufvesson documented the original in detail before building his personal interpretation of the ÖV4, which became Hot Rod Jakob. The body of the classic vehicle has been built by hand from raw aluminium panels that were bent into their final shape using a hammer and English wheel, as it was done in the prototype workshop back in the 1920s. Leif Tufvesson has already won awards such as "Hot Rod of the Year" and "Most Innovative Car" in the US After being unveiled at the Volvo Museum in Göteborg in February 2008, Hot Rod Jakob will be exhibited at the four Nordic winners of Volvo Best Partner 2007 before being presented at the 2008 SEMA show in Las Vegas in the USA in November this year.

Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen were equally adept at stripped-down basic rock & roll, R&B, and gritty country-rock. Commander Cody's country-rock rocked harder than the Eagles or Poco -- essentially, the group was a bar band. Much like English pub rock bands like Brinsley Schwarz and Ducks Deluxe, Commander Cody resisted the overblown and bombastic trends of early-'70s rock, preferring a basic, no-frills approach. Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen never had the impact of the British pub rockers, yet their straightforward energy gave their records a distinguishing drive; they could play country, Western swing, rockabilly, and R&B, and it all sounded convincing. The group originally formed in 1967 in Ann Arbor, MI; Commander Cody (born George Frayne IV; piano), John Tichy (lead guitar), Steve Schwartz (guitar), Don Davis (bass), Don Bolton (aka the West Virginia Creeper; pedal steel guitar), and Ralph Mallory (drums) formed the original lineup. When the group relocated to San Francisco the following year, only Frayne, Bolton, and Tichy made the move; the group's membership included Billy C. Farlowe (vocals, harp), Andy Stein (fiddle, saxophone), guitarist Billy Kirchen, bassist "Buffalo" Bruce Barlow, and drummer Lance Dickerson at the time of their 1971 debut album, Lost in the Ozone. My 78 Deville that ran a best of 10.34 @ 127 and 1.34 60ft time with a 512 ci Cadillac motor, normally aspirated .050 over 500 Caddy, factory cast crank, factory block, 13.6 comp, 950cfm Holley, ported factory heads, T/D shaft roller rockers, dual plane Edelbrock intake, T400 trans and a 3.70 gear. Its got a full interior with the exception of the two Kirkey racing seats & 6 point rollbar that was manditory. Still has the power door locks & windows, electric trunk release and pulldown. Need a better camera man! haha

In the early 1970's Kenny Powers, a Canadian daredevil, attempted one of the most idiotic stunts known to humankind. Powers tried to drive a rocket-powered and winged Lincoln Continental off a massive ramp and over the mile-wide St. Lawrence River and the border between Canada and New York state. The stunt cost an estimated $1 million and resulted in ... well, you've just got to watch the video.
Amateur stuntman Rod Kimble (ANDY SAMBERG) has a problem -- his step-father Frank (IAN MCSHANE) is a jerk. Frank picks on Rod, tosses him around like a rag doll in their weekly sparring sessions, and definitely doesn't respect him, much less his stunts. But when Frank falls ill, it's up to Rod to stage the jump of his life in order to save his step-father. The plan: Jump 15 buses, raise the money for Frank's heart operation, and then...kick his ass.

This is the 1936 Dodge Brothers Modified truck from Chuckles Garage. It's got a 514ci BBF and was a kick to drive. The truck has since been sold to Gregor from Speedkills Auto in Germany, who drives it almost every day and has taken it to the Bottrop show, and also Headbanging. Its been in quite a few calendars and various ads in Europe, and while I owned it, it was in CKD and had a 7 page feature in Smokin shutdown. This was my favorite build to date.
