Obama hosts Hu Jintao at state dinner as currency, trade tops menu

Barack Obama is keeping the pressure on China to let the value of its currency rise, with further comments during the Chinese president's 4-day trip to the United States. It's one of the most divisive issues between the two nations, with America saying the Yuan is being kept deliberately low to give Chinese exports an advantage. Obama says China supports nearly half a million US jobs, is its largest trading partner after Canada and Mexico, and is also the largest foreign holder of US debt. The two leaders also discussed human rights, with Hu Jintao saying China is willing to continue talks based on mutual respect, and the non-interference in their internal affairs.

Hu Jintao: "Hostile International Forces" Trying to Split China

For more news and videos visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ on.fb.me The head of China's Communist Party Hu Jintao has accused so-called "international forces" of trying to Westernize and split China using culture. Hu's comment was published recently in a Communist Party magazine and comes as the Party is stepping up controls on popular culture. Chinese leader Hu Jintao warned Party officials that international forces are trying to Westernize and divide the country through infiltrating the cultural field. The Chinese Communist Party journal, titled "Seeking Truth" recently published a section of Hu's speech to Party officials in October. In it Hu states: "We must clearly see, hostile international forces are currently intensifying their efforts in conspiring to Westernize and split [China], the main area they have infiltrated over the long term is the cultural field." In the speech, Hu calls on the Party to do everything they can to implement China's socialist culture in all areas of society. The end of 2011 saw the Party step up controls on Western-style entertainment shows on Chinese satellite television. The number of entertainment shows allowed to run was reduced by 70 percent. Chinese leaders have said that more books, films and other products should be created to extend China's influence abroad. The state-sponsored movie, "Beginning of the Great Revival," was released last year to mark the Communist Party's 90th anniversary ...

German Chancellor Angela Merkel Meets Hu Jintao for Talks

For more news and videos visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ on.fb.me German Chancellor Angela Merkel held talks with Chinese Communist Party leader Hu Jintao and top legislator Wu Bangguo in Beijing on Friday. During her meeting with Premier Wen Jiabao on Thursday, Merkel urged China to use its influence to persuade Iran to give up its nuclear program. Wen appeared to reject the pressure to do more on Iran, telling reporters later in the day that China objected to Western nations politicizing the "normal commercial relationship" it has with the Islamic Republic. Merkel is also expected to bid farewell to China's outgoing leaders, despite differences over human rights and democracy and issues like intellectual property theft. Both Hu and Wen are due to retire from their state posts in March 2013 and hand over power to successors, most likely led by current Vice President Xi Jinping. The next generation of leaders has not expressed different economic or trade policy views, and are expected to proceed cautiously once in power. The Chancellor will fly to the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou on Friday afternoon to attend a business forum... before wrapping up her trip to China on Saturday.

Hu Jintao Calls for Taiwan Unification on Xinhai Anniversary

For more news visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ me.lt Today is the 100th anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution that overthrew the Qing Dynasty on October 10th in 1911 and started the Republic of China. In mainland China, leaders marked the occasion at the Great Hall of the People last night. Hu Jintao used the opportunity to re-iterate the Chinese regime's calls for unification with Taiwan, the self-ruled island that still goes by the official name "The Republic of China." Taiwan has managed to hold off an invasion by Communist forces since the civil war, and relations between the two sides remain tense. Chinese leaders mark the anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution at the Great Hall of the People. This October 10th marks 100 years since Sun Yat-sen led a nationalist uprising that toppled the Qing Dynasty in 1911. It ended over two millennia of imperial rule in China. Although the Chinese communist regime celebrates the anniversary, they see the Xinhai Revolution as a movement that set the stage for the Communist Revolution in 1949. In that year, Communist forces defeated the Nationalist government who then fled to Taiwan. Self-ruled Taiwan, under the official name "The Republic of China," still celebrates the anniversary as its national day. The Chinese regime regards Taiwan as its territory. Hu Jintao used the opportunity to emphasize the regime's claim to the island, using Sun Yat-sen's own words. [Hu Jintao, Chinese Leader ...

Hu Jintao Quotes Deng Xiaoping's Speech to Criticize Jiang Zemin

Follow us on TWITTER: twitter.com Like us on FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com This year is the 20th anniversary of formerleader Deng Xiaoping's southern tour in which he gave a famous speech. Recently, the party media of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) published the speech in a high profile article, but said that there are two important sentences which reporters didn't dare to publish. This has attracted curiosity. Some scholars have pointed out that, the purpose of Deng's tour was to criticize Jiang Zemin who was against reform. The reason for Hu Jintao's faction publishing the speech before the 18th National People's Congress is to criticize Jiang Zemin who is retired but who didn't step down. On January 18th, "Xinhua Net" and "People Net" reproduced an article in "Nanfang Daily". In that article, Chen Xitian, former deputy chief editor of "Shenzhen Special Zone Daily" said there were two important sentences in Deng's speech that weren't published in the newspaper when the speech was reported 20 years ago. These two important sentences are, "Do not engage in political campaigns, do not engage in formalism. Leaders should have a clear mind, and shouldn't affect the leaders' work", and "Elders should resign, otherwise they can easily make mistakes. Like me, I'm old; I have a poor memory and unclear speech. So, elders like us should resign, and fully support the nation's youth." Hu Jintao Warns US Stay Out of China's Tibet and Taiwan Issues

For more news & videos visit ☛english.ntdtv.com While some media in Washington, DC, were slamming Chinese leader Hu Jintao and his regime for human rights abuses, back in the Mainland state media was toting Hu's visit as an overwhelming success. Any mention of US leaders challenging Hu over human rights abuses were wiped out from the internet in China. Both US President Barack Obama and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi brought up the Tibet issue with Hu during his 68-hour visit. Here's how he responded. During a luncheon with US business leaders on Thursday, Chinese leader Hu Jintao reiterated a theme that has been playing over state-run newspapers and television in China—that US-China relations must be "based on mutual respect and mutual benefit." And to be clear, Hu gave two examples, saying Tibet and Taiwan are "issues that concern China's territorial integrity and China's core interests." Hu said tensions would be strained if the United States continued selling weapons to Taiwan. In other words, he was warning the US to stay out. Just a few hours before Hu's address, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi had challenged him over the Tibet issue and the ongoing detention of Nobel Peace Prize winner Liu Xiaobo. And a day earlier, President Barack Obama had brought up the issues of Tibet and the Dalai Lama during a press conference with Hu. Hu Jintao's Meetings Monitored by CCP: Cheney's Memoir

The book gives an account of 40 years in US politics. It also includes a rare insight into Cheney's meetings with Chinese leader Hu Jintao. Cheney writes that every time he tried to meet privately with Hu Jintao, officials interrupted and monitored the meetings. Former US Vice President Dick Cheney recently released his memoir "In My Time." Besides discussing US government matters, the book offers some insight into a kind of surveillance that current Chinese leader Hu Jintao has been under within the Chinese Communist Party, or CCP. In the book, Cheney complains of Hu's scripted answers. He describes an attempted private meeting between himself and Hu in 2002. At that time Hu was still the appointed vice president. Cheney says the meeting was interrupted by the then Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxiang. Li was a senior party member and close to Hu's boss, the leader of the CCP at the time, Jiang Zemin. Cheney writes: "He had blown past my staff as they tried to explain politely that this was a one-on-one meeting, and now he seated himself between Hu and me. It was clear this was the minder reporting back to Beijing. Hu didn't skip a beat and continued to deliver the scripted answers he had been giving in other meetings." During Hu Jintao's visit, the areas around his hotel and the places where he met the Austrian Prime Minister were closed off. Hu was not supposed to see or hear Tibet activists so the shameful business activities on the costs of human rights can take place. Nevertheless I was shouting near his hotel and at the Hofburg, where he met the Austrian Prime Minister. Both times I was told by the police, they will arrest me, if I do not stop! Although I am very disappointed by this, it showed me, that shouting at the right time can be heard and is an effective tool to transport your message!
