This Video was made for the Azrael's Wish Foundation. The music is titled "Azrael's Wish". I wrote it for the foundation. Azrael is the three year old daughter of a friend of mine. She was born with galactosemia. A couple of months ago, a very well known foundation had agreed to send Azrael and her family to Disneyland. This foundation is known for doing things like this. Arrangements were being made - then they suddenly backed out, saying that Azrael didn't meet their requirements. The fact that they told her family "it was a go" and then reneged upset several of us. A friend from Facebook posted that Melissa (Azrael's mother) should start her own foundation. I posted the same. Within a week, Azrael's Wish Foundation was born and started to raise money. I've always liked this piece, though I have to admit I've only recently warmed up to the whole Myths and Legends album. I bought the album back in the 70's and was actually disappointed. Didn't play it much. When CDs came out, I bought it again, just to keep my collection complete, but still rarely played it. Finally about 5 years ago i finally warmed up to it. Can't explain why - but that's just how it worked for me. Like I said, I've always liked this piece. I was tinkering around on the piano one day after listening to Myths and just started to figure out this piece by ear (like everything I do). Put together my own arrangement/version and here it is.

This is a version of the same (pretty much) arrangement I did earlier. Of course this is just with the grand piano. Now, instead of recording the audio through my handicam, I'm using several condenser mics and an little "EQ-ing" to get a much better piano sound. Big difference between the sound here and my earlier attempts. I really enjoy playing this piece after I come home from work, stressed and tired. It's very peaceful and relaxing. Like before, it's in a different key than the original YES version and I'm not following the verse-chorus pattern - so this is just my version.

This is a piece I wrote about 22 years ago. It started out as an experiment. I had just bought my first Korg M1 and was learning how to use the sequencer. So I was playing around with patterns and loops. I lost that original recording (never give your only copy of a tape to a girlfriend... but I digress).
