"Rock the Boat" was featured on the Hues Corporation's 1973 album, Freedom for the Stallion, and was released as the second single from the album in early 1974 to follow-up the title song, which had peaked at #63 on the Hot 100. Initially, "Rock the Boat" appeared as though it would flop, as months went by without any radio airplay or sales activity. Not until the song became a disco/club favorite in New York did Top 40 radio finally pick up on the song, leading the record to finally enter the Hot 100 and zip up the chart to #1 in July of 1974. The record also reached the top 10 in the United Kingdom. Hues Corporation Rockin' Soul
The Hues Corporation was a pop and soul trio formed at Santa Monica, California in 1969. They are best known for their 1974 hit, "Rock the Boat".Before their success they were the opening act for some stars including Frank Sinatra, Milton Berle, Nancy Sinatra, and Glen Campbell. The original band had a line-up of three singers and three sidemen. The sidemen were Joey Rivera from the Checkmates, Monti Lawston, and Bob "Bullet" Bailey formerly of the Leaves. Before the group had a hit single they performed as an opening act for Flash Cadillac, Ike Turner, and Delaney Bramlett. Bailey, Rivera, and Lawston left the band to form Goodstuff.The group's name was a pun on the Hughes Corporation, with the 'hue' being the group's African-American heritage. The band's members were St. Clair Lee (born Bernard St. Clair Lee, 24 April 1944, San Francisco, California), Fleming Williams (born 1953, Flint, Michigan; died 1992) and Hubert Ann Kelley (born 24 April 1947, Fairfield, Alabama). The original choice for the group's name was The Children of Howard Hughes, which their record label turned down. The group's first big break came in 1972 when they were invited to appear in the blaxploitation film, Blacula, starring William Marshall. They were also asked to record three songs for the film's soundtrack; "There He Is Again", "What The World Knows" and "I'm Gonna Catch You". How many people knew about The Hues Corporation before their number one hit, "Rock The Boat?" Well listeners to MOR radio did, because "Freedom For The Stallion," from the year before, was their first hit, and while it only hit 69 on Billboard Hot 100, it charted big on Easy Listening.

Audio is 44100 Hz and 256000 bps.

I know this has been a long time coming. If I had been able to do this months ago,I would have, and have tried on copious occasions to upload an explanation of my absence. Basically, I lost my password for youtube and cannot remember it, and have not been able to bring my laptop (which is signed on to my account permanently) to an internet source, due to not having internet. Last week, I got internet. The following day, my laptop crashed and burned horribly until I managed to turn it on today. I strongly suspect that soon it will crash permanently, which means I will forever lose access to this youtube account. Can't change my password because I don't remember my current one. Therefore, I am posting this video, even though it is extremely old, as a farewell to youtube. I am sorry, and wish I could continue posting. I wish you all the very best.
