Jolicloud Running on an Archos 9 - IDF 2010

www.netbooknews.com At IDF 2010 we came across a little surprise with Jolicloud running on an Archos 9 tablet. The booth had locked the UI because too many people kept rebooting the system, but apparently it was fully operational. Jolicloud, a Linux-based operating system -- which allows users to run certain web apps like Gmail, Google Docs, Twitter and Facebook as if they were actual desktop applications -- is an OS doing its best to blur the lines between cloud and desk top, and looks very promising indeed. Intel Developer Forum (IDF) 2010: Demo of VNC Viewer Plus and Intel KVM Remote Control

Demonstration of VNC Viewer Plus from Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco, shown in the vPro Technology Community Theatre. VNC Viewer Plus supports the manageability features of the 2010 Intel Core vPro Processor Family. Now, rather than connecting to a VNC Server running on the operating system, you can connect at a hardware level. Effectively, even if your OS is non-responsive or your PC wont boot, you can still get remote access to it from anywhere on LAN, through a dialled in VPN connection or even directly over the Internet if you choose. This video shows VNC Viewer Plus in action, demonstrating its capability to control the full boot sequence remotely. Flexible Data Center Demo, IDF 2010

For those that were not able to see this demonstration live in San Francisco last week at Intel Developer Forum 2010 at the Data Center Zone High Performance Computing booth. The demo features Intel Xeon 5600 series processors in our GravityOS HPC and virtualization nodes and Intel SSD's in our GravityFS filesystem, all connected on Intel's low-latency iWarp 10g Ethernet. Infiscale's entire HPC and Cloud software stack is demonstrated, from the Perceus provisioning to the Abstractual virtualization layer and the GravityFS scalable, distributed file system. The advanced migration features of Abstractual move workload among simulated data centers to demonstrate how it can automatically manage scalable, virtualized infrastructure by migrating work to the data center that has the lowest cost available, or to the best resources following user settings. The workload in this demo includes MPI applications, web hosting, video streaming, and a cloud-based render farm using Blender.
