Ian Stewart - Junnior Wells - Keith Richards - Ronnie Wood - [ Live 1981 ]

Muddy Waters, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, Lefty Dizz, and the "sixth Stone" Ian Stewart 0:44 When Muddy Waters took the stage at the Checkerboard Lounge in Chicago on November 22, 1981 to play a session with members of the Rolling Stones and fellow bluesmen Buddy Guy, Junior Wells and Lefty Dizz, no one expected it to become one of his last live concert appearances. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood and the "sixth Stone" Ian Stewart 0:44 staying in Chicago for three concerts on November 23, 24, and 25, were excited to meet their long-time idol, perhaps the greatest bluesman ever and, of course, one of the major influences which led to the formation of the Rolling Stones back in 1962. They even took their band name from one of Waters' songs, "Rolling Stone." The meeting took place in an atmosphere of great anticipation, friendship and respect. Hear Jagger, during "Hoochie Coochie Man," sing the line "...I was born with good luck" and Waters' humorous response to superstar Mick: "...I see that!" ...irresistable!

Well I never kept a dollar past sunset, It always burned a hole in my pants. Never made a school mama happy, Never blew a second chance, oh no I need a love to keep me happy, I need a love to keep me happy. Baby, baby keep me happy. Baby, baby keep me happy. Always took candy from strangers, Didn't wanna get me no trade. Never want to be like papa, Working for the boss ev'ry night and day. I need a love to keep me happy, I need a love, baby won't ya keep me happy. Baby, won't ya keep me happy. Baby, please keep me I need a love to keep me happy, I need a love to keep me happy. Baby, baby keep me happy. Baby, baby keep me happy. Never got a flash out of cocktails, When I got some flesh off the bone. Never got a lift out of Lear jets, When I can fly way back home. I need a love to keep me happy, I need a love to keep me happy. Baby, baby keep me happy. Baby, baby keep me happy.

Rolling Stones - Under My Thumb

\ In the early 1950s Keith Richards and Mick Jagger were boyhood friends and classmates at Wentworth Primary School in Dartford, Kent until their families moved apart. In 1960 when Richards, on his way to class at Sidcup Art College, and Jagger, on his way to class at London School of Economics, met at Dartford train station, the Chuck Berry and Muddy Waters records Jagger carried revealed a mutual interest leading to the re-establishment of their friendship and the formation of a band with Dick Taylor (later of Pretty Things). Richards, Taylor and Jagger found Brian Jones as he sat in playing slide guitar with Alexis Korner's seminal London R&B band, Blues Incorporated. Blues Incorporated contained two other future members of the Rolling Stones: Ian Stewart and Charlie Watts. Stewart found a practice space and joined with Jones to start a R&B band playing Chicago Blues. Besides Stewart, Jones and Jagger, the first rehearsal of the as-yet-unnamed band also included Richards attending at Jagger's behest. Other participants were guitarist Geoff Bradford and vocalist Brian Knight, who objected to the rock 'n roll material Jagger and Richards played and wanted no part of forming a band with them. In June 1962 the line-up was: Jagger, Richards, Stewart, Jones, Taylor, and drummer Tony Chapman. According to Richards, Jones christened the band during a phone call to Jazz News. When asked for a band name Jones saw a Muddy Waters LP lying on the floor of which one of the tracks ...

Ben Waters - Boogie 4 Stu Teaser

www.eagle-rock.com soundcloud.com "Boogie 4 Stu" is a tribute to pianist Ian Stewart ("Stu"), founding member of the Rolling Stones and later their long serving road manager. Pianist Ben Waters, who played with Stu's band Rocket 88 and is now in The A,B,C & D Of Boogie Woogie with Charlie Watts, is the man behind the project. Starting from humble beginnings, the project snowballed as more and more of Ian Stewart's former friends and colleagues clamoured to be involved. Ben Waters plays throughout, with both Charlie Watts and Jools Holland on many tracks. Other guest appearances come from Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, PJ Harvey and Hamish Maxwell but for many the highlight of the album will be the bluesy cover of Bob Dylan's "Watching The River Flow" featuring Mick Jagger on vocals, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood on guitars, Charlie Watts on drums and Bill Wyman on bass -- a line-up that may be familiar to you (!) and the first time Wyman has recorded with his former colleagues since 1992. The album concludes with Ian Stewart and his band Rocket 88 performing the Sam Cooke track "Bring It On Home" live at the Montreux Jazz Festival. Tracklisting: 1) Boogie Woogie Stomp (Albert Ammons) Piano - Ben Waters 2) Roomin' House Boogie (Amos Milburn) Keith Richards - Guitar Bill Wyman - Bass Ben Waters - Piano, Vocals Ady Milward - Drums Derek Nash - Sax Clive Ashley - Sax 3) Worried Life Blues (Big Maceo) Charlie Watts - Drums Keith Richards - Vocals Ronnie Wood - Vocals, Guitars ...

Dave Bedford,Dick Tayler,Dave Black-10000m.-1974 Commonwealth Games,Christchurch,NZ

This short piece follows Bedford's failed attempt to finally win a medal at a major championship...he came 4th. and this, sadly, turned out to be his last real appearence at this level, his running career cut short by injury. It was left to another hairy Englishman called Dave (as in Black) to take the race on in it's latter stages, but it was won with a fine turn of speed on the last lap by local lad, New Zealander Dick Tayler, in the best race of his career, turning in a Games Record of 27.46.4.Look out for brief glimpses of defending champion Lachie Srewart (who came 10th),and also Ian Stewart(6th)and Tony Simmons(7th).

The Games of '74,as far as the mens' track events go,could claim to be one of the greatest championships ever...along with Bayi's astonishing 1500m. world record came great marathon,10k and steeplechase races,Quarrie's double, the second fastest 800m.ever and this, the second fastest ever 5000m.,just a second or so shy of Puttemans world record. Jipcho just gets past Foster who loses any chance he had with a lapped runner in the way.Jipcho was named by Foster as his Man Of The Games,as he also took gold in the Steeplechase anda bronze behind Bayi and Walker in the 1500 m. He turned professional shortly after these games. Also in the race were Dave Bedford and defending champion Ian Stewart. With no apparent BBC coverage available I culled this footage from the Official documentary of the Games ,so no David Coleman, but commentary from the stands by the legendary Arthur Lydiard can't be bad! Nearly four decades on and I'm still willing the lapped runner to get out of Foster's way....but he never does!

THE ROLLING STONES - LOVE IN VAIN

The Rolling Stones are an English rock band formed in April 1962 by guitarist and harmonica player Brian Jones, pianist Ian Stewart, vocalist Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards. Bassist Bill Wyman and drummer Charlie Watts completed the early lineup. At inception the band's material was heavily weighted with rhythm and blues material, and they are credited for raising the international regard for the more primitive blues typified by Chess Records' artists such as Muddy Waters who wrote Rollin' Stone, the song after which the band is named. Unconcerned with being seen as authentic blues stylists, from the start the Rolling Stones have played rock and roll, and have written and recorded in many genres. Jones led the band until Jagger and Richards together wrote hit songs for the band and assumed control. In 1969 Jones' contributions to recording were minimal, and he was unable to tour the United States for legal reasons; he left the band by mutual agreement. Shortly before Jones' death in 1969, Mick Taylor joined the Rolling Stones on guitar. Taylor left in 1974 and was replaced by Ronnie Wood. Wyman left in 1990, and his replacement Darryl Jones became the primary bassist, but he has not been made a full member. Stewart was taken from the official lineup in 1963 to continue as the band's road manager and occasional keyboardist until his death in 1985.
