From 1998 Album: "Soul Survivor"..... Get The Music: itunes.apple.com & www.amazon.com Peter Phillips (born June 21, 1970), better known by his stage name Pete Rock, is an American record producer, DJ and rapper. He rose to prominence in the early 1990s as one half of the critically acclaimed group Pete Rock & CL Smooth. After the duo went their separate ways, Rock continued with a solo career that has garnered him worldwide respect, though little in the way of mainstream success. Along with groups such as Stetsasonic, A Tribe Called Quest, The Roots and Gang Starr, Rock played a major role in the merging of elements from jazz into hip hop music (also known as jazz rap). He is widely recognized as one of the greatest hip hop producers of all time, and is often mentioned alongside DJ Premier and RZA as one of the mainstays of 1990s East Coast hip hop production. Pete Rock is also the older brother and younger cousin, respectively, of rappers Grap Luva and Heavy D. Solo Career: While working as a DJ with Marley Marl on Hot 97's Future Flavas show, Rock was able to forge a relationship with Loud Records, allowing him to release his solo album Soul Survivor in the summer of 1998. After being dropped from the Loud imprint, Rock signed with Rapster/BBE under his own label Soul Brother Recordings. His first release on the imprint was PeteStrumentals, which was mostly made up of previously unreleased Rock beats; all recorded between 1990 and 1995 but remixed and mastered for the ...

Inspectah Deck Curses Out Joe Budden On-Stage At Rock The Bells - Columbia, MD (HD)

Columbia, MD - 7/12/09: Inspectah Deck emerges during Raekwon's set at Rock The Bells to rally Wu fans in a communal "Fuck Joe Budden." This continues a beef, which began with Budden incredulously questioning Method Man's lyrical prowess after being ranked higher than Budden himself in a "Best Rapper Ever List" released online by Vibe Magazine. While Method Man neglected to respond to the insult, Inspectah Deck released a song "House Nigga" where he calls Joe Budden a "blog thug," saying "They don't respect you outside Jersey!" Joe Budden's response: "While Inspectah Deck may be considered a legend for the one great verse he had in his 30 year career, it's 2009." Raekwon sits down with UGHH's Van Stylez after the performance to discuss his roll in the continuing fued. Stay tuned since this is merely a prelude to the in-depth interview with Raekwon coming later this week on UGHH.com!

Come on [Inspectah Deck:] I dreamed I was top of the world, watching the world Awoke to a room full of smoke, gun at my throat I dwell in the heart of the hell, but never fell Po'nine scopin' me the whole time, they close behind My wants just as big as my needs, so it's agreed To strap up, tie these shoes, provide the school A wild out, had to hide out, in China's house Then run free, down to 1G, and hungry I won't fold, from the chokehold, I broke molds Fake ones, fake as they come, waiting to front I fight if it cost me my life, toss me the knife To move up, I do what I must, but who to trust I came from the grain and remain mentally stained The hardships, starving artist, it's obvious I'm 'raging against the machine' to make some CREAM That's how we live, just grab your kids, now we big All up in The Source, we flip and win the toss The law say, lock 'em away, vow to this day The world is ours, we the loud ones at early hours Striving, for a new way, my dues are payed [Chorus x2: Inspectah Deck] All I want is mine..
