Some ciné film I acquired of a trip to the Isle of Wight in 1963. Can anyone identify some of the locations for me to include in the making of a planned DVD? eg giving the mins/secs. position on the video. My inspiration for this upload was in watching some of the other IOW stuff on YouTube. My own visit (to Havenstreet) was in 1989 by mountain bike from Brockenhurst - via Ryde hospital. [ie I was knocked off my bike by an artic. and received 17 stitches - didn't stop me pedalling the rest of the way though - OUCH! ]
The Who - Pinball Wizard (From "Live At The Isle Of Wight Festival")

For more info - www.eagle-rock.com The original Who line-up performing a full live set in front of 600000 people at the Isle of Wight festival in the UK in 1970. At 2am August 30th The Who appeared on stage and gave one of the most memorable concerts of their career. The filmed negative of the show, shot by Academy Award winning Director Murray Lerner, has been restored to the highest visual quality. The sound has now been remixed from it's original 8 track tapes under the personal supervision of Pete Townshend at his Eel Pie Studios in London. The result is a stunning 24 bit mix available for the first time in 5.1 Surround Sound and DTS. This track is from the full live DVD "The Who - Live at the Isle of Wight Festival 1970", available now.

In the slide show is a mixture of beach scenes, landscapes, and lightning photos! I hope it makes you want to visit! I have just uploaded another Isle of Wight slide show, its a bit crap compared to this one but its ok i guess! you can find it here www.youtube.com www.islandvisions.co.uk

Isle of Wight steam Railway

The Isle of Wight once boasted 54 miles of railway, most of which was closed between 1952 and 1966. However its unique atmosphere has been perfectly preserved by the largely volunteer-run Isle of Wight Steam Railway, which began operating trains in 1971. Featured Locomotive is the A1X (TERRIER) CLASS 0-6-0T No W8 'FRESHWATER. A member of the famous 'Terrier' class, designed by William Stroudley. Built in 1876 at the Brighton works of the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway she was originally numbered 46, carried the name 'Newington' and was based at Battersea in South London. In 1903 she was purchased by the London and South Western Railway to operate on the Lyme Regis branch line. In 1913 she was hired by the Freshwater, Yarmouth and Newport Railway and is believed to have arrived on the Isle of Wight on 25 June in company of seven carriages. Recorded on the 19th July 2006 at the Isle of Wight, England. The trip takes you from Wootton to Havenstreet and back again to Wootton.

Isle of Wight Rail Simulator "what if" fantasy no Beeching journey HD

The Isle of Wight in southern England once had an extensive rail system. Just imagine what if... 1) The Cowes-Newport-Ryde line was open today. 2) The Shanklin-Ventnor line was open today. 3) The 3rd rail electrification installation never happened. 4) The Brading-Bembridge line remains open for freight traffic to the harbour. This is a fantasy late afternoon journey on a Class 166 Diesel. Leaving Cowes, the train proceeds to Newport and then to the junction with the Ryde-Ventnor line, along today's steam railway. It then proceeds to Ryde St John's, and to Ryde Pier where it reverses and returns to St John's (this part is not shown). The train then heads for Ventnor but our video then follows a Class 47 as it departs the Bembridge Harbour quayside and heads for the junction at Brading. Rejoining the DMU we proceed to Shanklin, still a through station, and then to Ventnor. This route is a free one obtained via www.uktrainsim.com but it requires the commercial Isle of Wight add-on. The route was created by Ian Beeby, as an extensive full IOW steam age network. I've modified it slightly for this video, removing some old stock and vehicles, but it mainly retains a bygone appearance, with plenty of smoking chimneys, freight yards and semaphore signals. The route actually includes the lines to Freshwater and Ventnor West not visited on this video (though you can see the junctions at Newport). I've concentrated mainly on the sections closed in the 1960s for this video; the ...

My God - Jethro Tull Live at the Isle of Wight 1970

With opening banter included. 'My God,' played here live prior to it's recording and inclusion on the Aqualung LP by the Mark 2 line-up featuring: Ian Anderson (guitar, flute), Martin Barre (electric guitar), Glenn Cornick (bass guitar), Clive Bunker (drums) and John Evan (keyboards). The festival at the Isle of Wight was the British version of Woodstock and was held at Afton Down which is a hill near the village of Freshwater on the Isle of Wight on August 26 - August 30, 1970. The festival was attended by approximately 600000 people. Jethro Tull played on the last day with Jimi Hendrix, Joan Baez, Moody Blues, Leonard Cohen, Richie Havens, Everly Brothers, Pentangle, and Donovan. No doubt Jethro Tull was a high point for everyone in attendance that day. It would have been for me! Enjoy. PS 8:02-8:04 reminds me of Shane when he's loaded!

The WHO live at the Isle of Wight 1970 - Full concert (High quality).

The Isle of Wight Festival is a music festival which takes place every year on the Isle of Wight in England. It was originally held from 1968 to 1970. These original events were promoted and organised by the Foulk brothers (Ron, Ray and Bill Foulk) under the banner of their company Fiery Creations Limited. The venues were Ford Farm (near Godshill), Wootton and Afton Down (near Freshwater) respectively. The 1969 event was notable for the appearance of Bob Dylan and the Band. This was Dylan's first paid performance since his motor cycle accident some three years earlier, and was held at a time when many still wondered if he would ever perform again. Followers from across the world trecked to the Isle of Wight for what seemed like a 'second coming'. Estimates of 150000--250000 attended. The 1969 festival opened on Friday 29 August—eleven days after the close of Woodstock. Dylan was living in Woodstock, New York, at the time and it was widely believed that he would perform there, after the event had been "put in his own backyard". As it happened, Dylan left for the Isle of Wight on 15 August—the day the Woodstock festival began. The 1970 event was by far the largest and most famous of these early festivals; indeed it was said at the time to be one of the largest human gatherings in the world, with estimates of over 600000, surpassing the attendance at Woodstock. Included in the line-up of over fifty performers were The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, The Doors, Ten Years ...
