Here's What You'll Need Sectioning combHair clipsTextured pasteSmall rubber bandsBobby pinHairsprayCurling or straightening iron Step 1: Part and Section Your Hair Start by parting your hair on the side so that your hair will make a dramatic side sweep that partly covers your eye. You may want to clip it to keep it out of the way. On the side where your part is, section off four equally sized pieces. To form the sections, take the tail of your comb and run it from the front of your head to the middle of the back of your head. It's important to make sure that each section is the same size and that the parts run straight across your head. Step 2: Form the First Four Cornrows Apply some of the textured paste to the roots of each section so that the cornrows will hold. Starting with a three very thin strands of hair, braid from the front of your head to the back, gathering the rest of the hair in the section as you go. The tighter you braid, the flater against your head it will lay. Keep braiding halfway to the end and secure with a rubber band. Do the same with the remaining three sections and hold all of them together with a hair clip.
