Jacques Brel - Ne Me Quitte Pas

Such a beautiful song by Jacques Brel (recorded in 1959) Here is an English translation. Ne Me Quitte Pas (=If you go away) If you go away on this summer's day, Then you might as well take the sun away All the birds that flew in the summer sky When our love was new and our hearts were high When the day was young and the nights were long And the moon stood still for the night bird's song If you go away, if you go away, if you go away. But if you stay, I'll make you a day Like no day has been, or will be again We'll sail on the sun, we'll ride on the rain And talk to the trees and worship the wind But if you go, I'll understand Leave me just enough love to fill up my hand If you go away, if you go away, if you go away. If you go, as I know you will You must tell the world to stop turning Till you return again, if you ever do, For what good is love without loving you? Can I tell you now, as you turn to go I'll be dying slowly till the next hello If you go away, if you go away, if you go away. But if you stay, I'll make you a night Like no night has been, or will be again I'll sail on your smile, I'll ride on your touch I'll talk to your eyes that I love so much But if you go, I won't cry Though the good is gone from the word goodbye If you go away, if you go away, if you go away. If you go away, as I know you must There is nothing left in this world to trust Just an empty room, full of empty space Like the empty look I see on your face I'd have been the shadow of your shadow ...

Jacques Brel - Jef (live concert 1964)

The legendary INTENSE performer Jacques Brel ! (Live. Subtitles: rhyming translation in Dutch probably by Ernst van Altena). (English translation : below here in description). Jacques Brel was a Belgian singer, Flemish of origin, but French speaking & singing mostly. He is widely considered a master of the modern 'chanson', and an influential singer-songwriter. Brel had tremendous success in Europe and fans all over the world. He wrote a treasure of unforgettable melodies and lyrics, and was a brilliant performer. His most famous song is "Ne me quitte pas", covered in several other languages, like in English as "If you go away" by many artists as Frank Sinatra, Nina Simone, Ray Charles, David Bowie, Sting, Shirley Horn (try hers!), Toots Thielemans, etc. "Jef" is the name of a friend, the song is about friendship. en.wikipedia.org ==== ENGLISH ==== No Jef, you aren't alone But do stop this crying Like this in front of everyone Just because a semi-old woman Just because a fake blond Has let you down No Jef, you aren't alone But you know, this is shameful Sobbing like this, it's silly, In front of everyone Just because a three-quarter whore Slipped out of your fingers No Jef, you aren't alone But one feels ashamed looking at you People are laughing at us Let's go away from this damned pavement Come on, Jef, come on... Come on, I've got a few coins left Let's go and drink them At 'la Mère Françoise' Come on, Jef, come on, I've got a few coins left And if that's not enough ...

Jacques Brel - La Quete

Broadcast Christmas Eve 1968. The Last song on the program, preceded by "Regarde Bien Petit," "L'eclusier," "Je Suis un Soir D'ete" and "Vesoul." Directed By Alain Dhenaut. Brel was allowed to freely adapt Joe Darion's lyrics from the original Broadway comedy of 1965 : MAN OF LA MANCHA. Music by Mitch Leigh. Available on DVD in the amazing box set: Comme Quand on Etait Beau www.amazon.com Here's my translation, though I'm open to suggestions: To dream an impossible dream To bear the burden of enterprise To burn, though it may be fever, To go where no one will go To love until torn asunder To love too much, even wrongly To attempt, without an army, without armor, To reach for the unreachable star, That is my quest, To follow my star I don't care about my chances I don't care about time, or how wretched I am and I'll struggle forever without sleep, without complaint, To be condemned For the gold of one utterance of love. I don't know if I will be this hero but my heart holds fast and the towns have been shrouded in blue because of one poor soul Burn on, till all's been burnt Burn on, burn too much, even wrongly To reach out till I'm torn apart, To reach for the unreachable star. guysands.blogspot.com

Midnight Magic - Beam Me Up (Jacques Renault Remix)

CAT NUMBER: PERMVAC059-1 RELEASE DATE: 28 Jun '10 When Midnight Magic popped up on Tim Sweeney's Beats In Space 'Best of 2009' they really should've had a record out. They also should've had something available for download when they appeared on a recent Best of Myspace UK. And it probably would've been a good idea to have something in the shops when Patrick Adams of Waves At Night told his readers that Midnight Magic were 'going to be a very hot prospect for 2010.' But they didn't. Not the best idea. No: not the best idea at all. The best idea was for them to release their first single, "Beam Me Up", on Permanent Vacation Records this summer - and that wasn't even their idea! We have to thank the Germans for finally putting an end to Midnight Magic's madness. But who is Midnight Magic? They appear on stage as Tiffany Roth, Morgan Wiley, Carter Yasutake, W. Andrew Raposo, Max Goldman, Nick Roseboro, Caito Sanchez, Jason Disu and Andrew Frawley. They are servants of a secret fire - a psychedelic-soul army inspired by electro, funk, and disco from all around the world. You may recognize some of these Midnight Magicians from when they played in Hercules & Love Affair (who they sound like, along with sorely missed NY disco outfit Escort), or from the myriad of DFA Records releases on which they are featured. Based out of an abandoned jazz factory in northern Brooklyn, USA, Midnight Magic would do well to remind you of this, their debut release on Permanent Vacation featuring ...

Jean Jacques Machado Promoted to Red/Black Belt

Monday June 6th, 2011. One Legend bestows an honor to another. Without doubt, the most renowned Jiu Jitsu master in the world, Rickson Gracie, promotes his cousin, friend and long time student, Master Jean Jacques Machado, in what was an emotionally yet inspiring private ceremony in Los Angeles, California. Professor Machado was bestowed promotion to Red/Black Belt in recognition of his 25 years as a Black Belt Instructor, competitor and world champion. Because I was graciously granted the exclusive rights to record this important moment in the history of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, it is my honor and privilege to share it with the rest of the world. Also included, at the end of the video, is the following open appreciation letter from Mr. Machado to Rickson: ...... "How does one adequately express their appreciation to someone who has given them the gift of sight? The ability to see and understand things as they never had before. I am referring to someone in the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu world who is known by a single name ... "Rickson." "Before Rickson Gracie I studied Jiu Jitsu, after Rickson Gracie I understood Jiu Jitsu." Without understanding Jiu Jitsu I would not be who I am today, and knowing this overwhelms me with love and admiration for him, for the wonderful gift he has given me. No matter where or when, Rickson was always there for me. Jacque Fresco - Are we educated yet?

We lie to our kids, and then we expect them to be honest. Including Spanish subtitles. Con subtítulos en español. This journey tries to relate Fresco's observations to the theorems of Nobal laureate Konrad Lorenz who, together with Nikolaas Tinbergen, is considered the pioneer of modern ethology. It ends with excerpts from another great work of observation. Two years before his death in 1996, Carl Sagan laid out a choice for humanity in "The Pale Blue Dot - A Vision of Human Future in Space". Check it out. This is part two of a series composed of excerpts from a lecture Jacque Fresco gave in Graz, Austria.
