Last the topic was discussed, Cameron said he wasn't going to work on battle angel until avatar was complete...and we all know that avatar wont be complete for a pretty long time either...hes what Cameron said about making avatar priority over battle angel. "I see the good the 'Avatar' franchise can do in terms of keeping a world audience cognizant of our relationship with nature, but doing it in an entertainment context....Ultimately I think there's more good to be done there than with 'Battle Angel.' When he was 15, he saw Stanley Kubrick's film, 2001: A Space Odyssey. And James knew he wanted to make movies. Eventually, he went to college... Dropped out... And bounced around between jobs How did a small town kid from Chippawa, Ontario go on to dominate Hollywood and win 11 Oscars in the process? Well, for James Cameron it started in 1981 - when he made his directorial debut, with 'Pirahna Two: The Spawning.' and if you're wondering, yes - it's bad as it sounds. From there, he wrote the screenplay for 'Rambo: First Blood Part Two' and subsequently directed 'The Terminator'. Along the way, James wrote and directed another classic - 'Aliens,' with Sigourney Weaver. Plus, there was 'The Abyss', 'True Lies' and every 'Terminator' sequel including the upcoming 'Terminator Salvation.' Since the late 90's, James has put off Hollywood films to make documentaries. The venture, called Planetary Resources Incorporated, includes investors like—shocker—self-styled explorer and blockbuster director James Cameron. Planetary Resources has two goals: to add trillions of dollars to the global GDP and ensure prosperity, while helping pave the way for human settlement of space. Wired notes that nearly 9000 asteroids larger than 150 feet in diameter orbit near the earth and could be rich in platinum, palladium, and iridium, highly valuable commodities for medical and technical devices. The idea is incredibly expensive and will have many hurdles to clear, but the list of advisers is promising—it includes Google CEO and executive chairman Larry Page and Eric Schmidt, and former astronaut Tom Jones. Now we just need Bruce Willis on the asteroid mining crew and we should be good to go!

James Cameron reveals the future of the 'Avatar' franchise, and it's bad news for Battle Angel fans. The New York Times posted an interview with progressive filmmaker James Cameron from his trip to the Beijing International Film Festival in China last month, in which indicates his future filmmaking plans. It looks like "Avatar" sequels are forging full force ahead, and everything else is being put on the backburner. When Cameron was asked what projects he is looking at (other than an "Avatar" sequel), he said: "I'm in the 'Avatar' business. Period. That's it. I'm making 'Avatar 2,' 'Avatar 3,' maybe 'Avatar 4,' and I'm not going to produce other people's movies for them." That is certainly bad news for Battle Angel fans, which Cameron said a couple weeks ago he would still be interested in making, but not until the "Avatar" sequels were finished. He also said he wouldn't let another director pry it out of his "cold dead fingers," so does this mean Cameron might take Battle Angel to his grave after all? Cameron also indicated in the interview he is currently working on the "Avatar" sequel, right now on the tool set, the production pipeline, setting up new stages in Los Angeles, setting up visual effects production in New Zealand, and of course, writing the script. Director James Cameron is bringing his 1997 Best Picture winner Titanic back to theaters with a new 3D digital restoration April 4. Even though its JUST a reimagining, according to the Hollywood reporter, the filmmaker WAS considering going back and reshooting the drama, after discovering several factual errors regarding how the enormous ship actually sunk. However, in the end, he decided to stick to the original. Heres what Cameron had to say, "I suppose there was a moment that fleetingly passed through my mind that I could correct the film, and have it actually match what Titanic actually looked like. Then another part of my mind said, 'No. You're going to be a nutter standing on a street corner, babbling away." He continued, "I didn't change a frame. The ship still sinks at the end. Jack still dies." I think the fans of the movie would agree with me when I say, its best to stick to the integrity of the original and we are all happy with this news! "Cameron collected samples for research in marine biology, microbiology, astrobiology, marine geology and geophysics," the Geographic said. He also spent time filming the Marianas Trench, about 200 miles southwest of the Pacific island of Guam. The trip to the deepest point took two hours and 36 minutes. But Cameron's return aboard his 12-ton, lime-green sub called Deepsea Challenger was a "faster-than-expected 70-minute ascent," according to National Geographic. A helicopter spotted the submersible bobbing in the water and it was brought aboard the ship by a crane.

Filmmaker and ocean enthusiast James Cameron became the first solo explorer to reach the deepest point of the ocean — almost seven miles down — when his custom-built one-man submarine touched down in the western Pacific Ocean's Mariana Trench at 7:52 am local time (5:52 pm Eastern Daylight Time), according to a statement from the National Geographic Society, which is sponsoring the filmmaking and scientific expedition. Cameron's first words on reaching the bottom of the so-called Challenger Deep were "All systems OK'', according to a mission statement. He then tweeted: "Just arrived at the ocean's deepest pt. Hitting bottom never felt so good. Can't wait to share what I'm seeing w/ you.'' He planned to spend up to six hours on the Pacific Ocean sea floor, collecting samples for scientific research and taking still photographs and moving images. His goal is to become the first human to visit the ocean's deepest point in more than 50 years, and to bring back data and specimens. He was expected to take 3D images that could help scientists better understand the unexplored part of the earth. The submersible that Cameron designed, a "vertical torpedo" of sorts, already successfully completed an unpiloted dive on Friday.
