James Cameron reveals the future of the 'Avatar' franchise, and it's bad news for Battle Angel fans. The New York Times posted an interview with progressive filmmaker James Cameron from his trip to the Beijing International Film Festival in China last month, in which indicates his future filmmaking plans. It looks like "Avatar" sequels are forging full force ahead, and everything else is being put on the backburner. When Cameron was asked what projects he is looking at (other than an "Avatar" sequel), he said: "I'm in the 'Avatar' business. Period. That's it. I'm making 'Avatar 2,' 'Avatar 3,' maybe 'Avatar 4,' and I'm not going to produce other people's movies for them." That is certainly bad news for Battle Angel fans, which Cameron said a couple weeks ago he would still be interested in making, but not until the "Avatar" sequels were finished. He also said he wouldn't let another director pry it out of his "cold dead fingers," so does this mean Cameron might take Battle Angel to his grave after all? Cameron also indicated in the interview he is currently working on the "Avatar" sequel, right now on the tool set, the production pipeline, setting up new stages in Los Angeles, setting up visual effects production in New Zealand, and of course, writing the script.
