As a student at JMU in Spring of '71, I used my dad's 8mm video cam to shoot some panos of the JMU campus. The Student Union Building had just been completed by summer of 1971 and you can see the Athletic Building about halfway completed in this video. Amazing changes and so many memories. For those of us who attended JMU in the 70's and who may not have been back in years, notice the vast differences when viewing the countryside north and south on 81 across from the main campus!!! The JMU soccer team is playing at the end of this clip. The famed... "Alan Mare" is shown here playing goalie and as many may know by now, Alen went on to have a very successful profession soccer career. Hopefully... Alan will see this and get in touch! The red-headed student shown standing on the sidelines is "Lucky Grooms". Always a great sense of humor and when anyone asked him how he got his name.... he would always respond with a smile say..... " BY CHANCE ! " Would love to see get in touch with him but have no idea where he might be today. Lucky, if you're out there.... get in touch!! Lucky and I, along with about 9 other gymnastics class students and with the help of the gymnastics coach formed the very first JMU Gymnasitic Team.
