The Aokigahara Forest is the most popular site for suicides in Japan. After the novel Kuroi Jukai was published, in which a young lover commits suicide in the forest, people started taking their own lives there at a rate of 50 to 100 deaths a year. The site holds so many bodies that the Yakuza pays homeless people to sneak into the forest and rob the corpses. The authorities sweep for bodies only on an annual basis, as the forest sits at the base of Mt. Fuji and is too dense to patrol more frequently. Need help? Konnichiwa guys ^_^ As promised- I filmed lots of footage from my trip to Japan for you guys. So come with me and follow me on my journey to Japan ^_^. On 4th December; I woke up to see a post-it note on my mirror. It was a treasure trail prepared by Tim. I followed all of the clues and the last clue was an itinerary & Yen note. I'M GOING TO JAPAN FOR MY BIRTHDAY!! Although I only got to spend 4 full days in Japan- we managed to do/see countless beautiful sightings. Japan is breathtaking. We didn't go to Tokyo because I wanted to experience the authentic and peaceful side of Japan (like how i imagine it in my head). I will definitely visit Tokyo in the future but I wanted to see Osaka/Kyoto first. I wanted to see Zen gardens, temples and geishas. Everything was even more beautiful than I imagined. It was a wonderful journey and we managed to visit some of the greatest temples on earth and eat delicious japanese food. People were very warm and welcoming. I will definitely visit Japan again and I would recommend anybody to visit the country once in their life time. They have a beautiful culture. Big thank you to my lovely boyfriend Tim for being so sweet and romantic. It was a wonderful surprise and I'll never forget our amazing trip together in Japan. I hope you guys enjoy this video. Limbering up in the suburbs of Tokyo, Kenichi Ito is the fastest man on four legs. For nearly a decade Kenichi has been perfecting a running style based on Africa's wiry Patas monkey, and that's helped the 29-year-old get into the record books for the fastest time running 100 metres on all fours. "You know my face and body kind of looks like a monkey, so from a young age everyone used to tease me, saying 'monkey, monkey'. But I wasn't really bothered because I really liked them, and somewhere inside of me I had this ambition to adopt one of their traits,"Ito said, squatting on all fours in his Tokyo apartment. For eight-and-a-half years Ito has walked around the local area on hands and feet, and turned household chores into challenges on all fours. But his passion for simians was not without setbacks. "In the streets around here I get stopped by the police, so I went up into the mountains for about a month for a kind of four-legged running training camp. But on the first day, a hunter mistook me for a wild boar, and he tried to shoot me," Ito told Reuters. Constantly honing his style, Ito looks for inspiration from across the animal world using the internet and a season ticket to the local zoo. So far he's developed six distinct forms of all-fours movement from his top-speed "gallop" to a more leisurely walking pace, and recruited about 100 converts across seven countries.

A year later, decontamination and construction crews are still working to clean up the nuclear disaster at Japan's Fukushima Dai-ichi Power plant. Experts expect the cleanup will take decades and cost tens of billions of dollars. The earthquake and resulting tsunami that hit Japan 's east coast last March 11th was one of the biggest the world has ever recorded, killing nearly 16000 people, injuring 6000 and causing another 3000 to go missing. But the natural disaster was eclipsed by news of the nuclear one, which was the worst since the Chernobyl meltdown in 1986. Japan's struggles in dealing with Fukushima captivated the world's attention for weeks, as a small group of men in radiation suits fought to cool the plant's damaged and burning reactors. 200000 area residents were evacuated. Polling shows public opinion around nuclear power also remains damaged, with the possible impact of natural disasters on plants and the power to contain damage still in question. Eleven US power companies are currently seeking license extensions for 15 nuclear power plants across America built decades ago. In the wake of Fukushima, the future of old plants, and the viability of new ones, hangs in the balance.
