Night On Earth (Jim Jarmusch, 1991) - Part 1

Night on Earth is a 1991 film written and directed by Jim Jarmusch. It is a collection of five vignettes, which take place during the same evening, each concerning the temporary bond formed between taxi driver and passenger in five different cities around the world: Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Rome, and Helsinki. The movie begins with the Los Angeles based segment and moves from city to city as the clock turns during the late hours of the night. Jarmusch wrote the screenplay for Night on Earth in about eight days, and the decision to film in certain cities was largely based on the actors with whom he wanted to work at the time.[1] The soundtrack, Night on Earth, is by Tom Waits.

Mystery Train by Jim Jarmusch (1989)- Lost In Space

The 3rd episode of the movie -italian subtitled- Written and Directed by Jim Jarmusch with Joe Strummer,Steve Buscemi,Screamin' Jay Hawkins,Tom Waits (dj voice) Mystery Train is a 1989 independent anthology film written and directed by Jim Jarmusch and set in Memphis, Tennessee. The film comprises a triptych of stories involving foreign protagonists unfolding over the course of the same night. "Far From Yokohama" features a Japanese couple (played by Youki Kudoh and Masatoshi Nagase) on a blues pilgrimage, "A Ghost" focuses on an Italian widow (Nicoletta Braschi) stranded in the city overnight, and "Lost In Space" follows the misadventure of a newly single and unemployed Englishman (Joe Strummer) and his companions (Rick Aviles and Steve Buscemi). They are linked by a run-down flophouse overseen by a night clerk (played by Screamin' Jay Hawkins) and his dishevelled bellboy (Cinqué Lee), a scene featuring Elvis Presley's "Blue Moon" and a gunshot. The starting point for the script was the ensemble cast of friends and previous collaborators Jarmusch had conceived characters for, while the tripartite formal structure of the film was inspired by his study of literary forms. Cinematographer Robby Müller and musician John Lurie were among the many contributors who had been involved in earlier Jarmusch projects and returned to work on the film. Mystery Train's US$2.8 million budget (financed by Japanese conglomerate JVC) was considerable compared to what the director had enjoyed ...

Dead Man by Jim Jarmusch part 1/12

Dead Man is written and directed by Jim Jarmusch and it is the classic movie of the 90s. Soundtrack is recorded by Neil Young. Starring: Johnny Depp as William Blake, Gary Farmer as Nobody, Mili Avital as Thel Russell, Crispin Glover as Train Fireman, Iggy Pop as Salvatore 'Sally' Jenko, Robert Mitchum in his final role as John Dickinson and others.. ................................ It is a story about young man William Blake, who travels into a very unfamiliar terrain, both physically and spiritually, where death is life's only certainty and its greatest mystery at the same time. On his journey to the extreme western frontiers, where West is a metaphor for mythic and haunted landscape, he encounters a very odd, outcast Native American, named Nobody, who believes Blake is actually the dead English poet of the same name. Lost and badly wounded, Blake is contrary to his very nature apparently transforming into a hunted outlaw, a killer, and a man whose physical existence in that chaotic, cruel world is slowly slipping away... But at the same time his eyes are opened to the beauty of fragility that defines the true realm of the living. So at the end, his friend Nobody, who is throughout entire journey unstoppable in quoting Poetry, safely delivers Blake back to the spirit level of the world and thereby fulfills his unending purpose.
