Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit

A musicvideo for Jefferson Airplane's White Rabbit. I made it to pass an exam in mediadesign. I hope you like it :) [UPDATE] I finally managed to compile the source again. This time in 720p MPEG4 encoded with a less size than the version described below. Unfortunately the Alice in Wonderland part of the video is not skaled up with a brilliant quality as you would normally expect from a 720p version, but nevertheless, it is much more nicer to watch it in that size than here on youtube. If it were possible to upgrade the video directly here, i would do it. Until this is possible, you can still keep on asking, i'm trying to answer as soon as possible. [Old] You can mail me if you'd like to see the 640x360 16:9 Version in high quality.

Jefferson Airplane - Somebody To Love

Written by Darby Slick for The Great Society a band Grace Slick also played in before Jefferson Airplane/Starship Surrealistic Pillow Studio album by Jefferson Airplane Released February 1967 Recorded October 31, 1966 -- November 22, 1966 Genre Psychedelic rock, folk rock Length 33:40 Label RCA Victor Producer Rick Jarrard Jefferson Airplane's fusion of folk rock and psychedelia was original at the time, in line with musical developments pioneered by The Byrds, The Mamas & the Papas, and Bob Dylan. Surrealistic Pillow was the first blockbuster psychedelic album by a band from San Francisco, announcing to the world the active bohemian scene that had developed there starting with The Beats during the 1950s, extending and changing through the 1960s into the Haight-Ashbury counterculture. Subsequently, the exposure generated by the Airplane and others wrought great changes to that counterculture, and by 1968 the ensuing national media attention had precipitated a very different San Francisco scene than had existed in 1966. San Francisco photographer, Herb Greene photographed the band for the album's cover art. Some controversy exists as to the role of Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia in the making of the album. His reputed presence on several tracks is not corroborated by RCA paperwork and is denied by producer Rick Jarrard. But when performing Comin' Back to Me live with Jefferson Starship, Marty Balin almost always introduced the song with a reference to the ...

Jefferson Airplane -Somebody to love , White rabbit (live at Woodstock)

Jefferson Airplane's diamonds performed at Woodstock, on 17th August 1969 . "Somebody to Love", written by Darby Slick and "White rabbit", written by Grace Slick. It was back in the year 2008. I had just started listening to Jefferson Airplane. I had looked them up due to a reference John Densmore does in his book "Riders on the storm" to the song "White rabbit"; I was very impressed by the lyrics and...well, the rest is history I guess :) Searching through youtube, I found this very video that I have posted here. Sadly, it was taken down shortly after that, probably due to copyright issues and shit. So, I decided to upload it and make it available for everyone again. Jefferson Airplane's performance of these two songs is included in a film called "Woodstock:The Director's Cut" by Michael Wadleigh. "Good mornin',people!" Really digging: Jack's outfit and groovy headbanging, Spencer's hat and badass drumming, Marty's voice, sideburns and tambourine, Jorma's playing and crazy hair, Paul's headband and vocals (well on other songs :p) and Grace's eyes, barefootness (lol) and of course her unbelievably amazing voice. Love Jefferson Airplane's spirit. Go ride the music people and enjoy!

Jefferson Airplane - Comin' Back To Me

From the LP Surrealistic Pillow The summer had inhaled and held its breath too long The winter looked the same, as if it never had gone And through an open window where no curtain hung I saw you, I saw you, comin' back to me One begins to read between the pages of a look The shape of sleepy music, and suddenly you're hooked Through the rain upon the trees, that kisses on the run I saw you, I saw you, comin' back to me You can't stay and live my way Scatter my love like leaves in the wind You always say you want to go away But I know what it always has been, it always has been A transparent dream beneath an occasional sigh Most of the time I just let it go by Now I wish it hadn't begun I saw you, yes I saw you, comin' back to me Strolling the hills overlooking the shore I realize I've been here before The shadow in the mist could have been anyone I saw you, I saw you, comin' back to me Small things like reasons are put in a jar Whatever happened to wishes wished on a star? Was it just something that I made up for fun? I saw you, I saw you, comin' back to me

Jefferson Airplane - Today

From the LP Surrealistic Pillow Today I feel like pleasing you more than before Today I know what I want to do but I don't know what for To be living for you is all I want to do To be loving you it'll all be there when my dreams come true Today you'll make me say that I somehow have changed Today you'll look into my eyes, I'm just not the same To be anymore than all I am would be a lie I'm so full of love I could burst apart and start to cry Today everything you want, I swear it all will come true Today I realize how much I'm in love with you With you standing here I could tell the world what it means to love To go on from here I can't use words, they don't say enough Please, please listen to me It's taken so long to come true And it's all for you all for you....

White Rabbit ☮ Jefferson Airplane ♥ 1967

Jefferson Airplane was quite the biggest band of the San Francisco scene. Their roots date back to the year 1965 and by 1967 (mostly because of the Monterey International Pop Festival and the proclamation of the Summer of Love) they had gained stardom. The dual and sometimes triple voice was their trademark. They combined Psychedelia as well as Blues in their songs. The Airplane became the archetype of the new, young and revolting generation: free and successful, living together as a family (or at least as good friends), making music, taking drugs. Jefferson Airplane were scheduled as the headliner for Saturday, the second day of Woodstock, but finally started in Sunday morning around 8.00 am. One pill makes you larger And one pill makes you small And the ones that mother gives you Don't do anything at all Go ask Alice When she's ten feet tall And if you go chasing rabbits And you know you're going to fall Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar Has given you the call Call Alice When she was just small When men on the chessboard Get up and tell you where to go And you've just had some kind of mushroom And your mind is moving low Go ask Alice I think she'll know When logic and proportion Have fallen sloppy dead And the White Knight is talking backwards And the Red Queen's "off with her head!" Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pillow [Full Album]

The Airplane's legendary and historic second album in it's entirety (probably my #1 favorite release of all-time and this is coming from a die-hard Black Sabbath, King Crimson & Amy Winehouse fan and of course the JA) ****************************************************************************************** TECHNICAL NOTE: The original 1966 RCA stereophonic mix is presented here, famously known for it's lush reverberation effect (the way I love it). Most of the reverb you hear was actually the result of the larger tracking rooms (with high ceilings) the group utilized at RCA studios as well as other factors like mic placement during the sessions. It was NOT artificially added after the initial sessions through processing as many fans or critics have speculated over the years. Though there are a small legion of listeners who do prefer the more upfront but drier sounding monaural mix. Unfortunately for me (mr. uploader mind you) this nearky kills the essence and vibe of the whole listening experience this LP is known for...just my two cents. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's time we walked away set me free I must move away leave you be Time's been good to us my friend Wait and see how it will end We come and go as we please...that's how it must be Here in Crystal Chandelier I'm home Too many days I've left unstoned If you doubt my happiness What full pleasure feels in the Sun Ah, don't you ...
Jefferson Airplane - Somebody To Love

PLEASE NOTE: I divided my uploads between multiple channels, Bookmark this link in your browser for instant access to an index with links to all of John1948's oldies classics. LINK: tinyurl.com Jefferson Airplane was a psychedelic rock group formed in San Francisco. It was the first of several Bay Area psychedelic groups of the 1960s to become internationally known. The band was founded by singer Marty Balin and guitarist Paul Kantner in 1965. With the addition of Signe Anderson, their male-female singing style showed their folk music roots plus Balin's love of R&B singing styles. In fact their dual lead vocals were a hallmark of their sound throughout the Airplane's career, as confirmed (to international acclaim) after Grace Slick replaced Signe Anderson as the female singer. The other members of the band were guitarist Jorma Kaukonen, bassist Jack Casady and drummer Alexander "Skip" Spence. After the release of their first studio album, Takes Off (only released in the USA), Anderson and Spence left the band. They were replaced by Grace Slick and Spencer Dryden, respectively. Grace Slick brought with her an amazing voice, attitude and two songs from her former band The Great Society. Both songs, "Somebody To Love" and "White Rabbit", received much airplay and helped make the band's second album Surrealistic Pillow a big seller, and also to pretty much define San Francisco's "Summer of Love" zeitgeist, just as the psychedelic era was coming into full bloom.
