Jennifer Warnes: First We Take Manhattan

We got kicked out of our studio for a few weeks but I wanted Jennifer Warnes to bring her take on Leonard Cohen's song so I took the rest of the show to the beach and let Jennifer bring her amazing talent in her glorious version of Leonard Cohen's music. We really had no live audience as normally so it was just me, John Brunton, Joni Tosoni (our BRILLIANT director) and the rest of the crew to witness this chillingly awesome performance from FAMOUS BLUE RAINCOAT. I am so blessed to have been a part of this from my award-winning series IT'S ONLY ROCK 'N ROLL!

JENNIFER WARNES - Joan Of Arc (live 1992) + lyrics

I couldnt resist this poetic masterpiece by Leonard Cohen and so beautiful sang by Jennifer Warnes. (Live) from "Famous blue raincoat" - 20th Anniversary 24K Gold Edition - 2007 (Original 1987) Pics ao by krmenxa and photoshop Lyrics: now the flames they followed joan of arc as she came riding through the dark no moon to keep her armor bright, no man to get her through this dark and, smoky night she said Im tired of the war, I want the kind of work I had before a wedding dress or something white, to wear upon my swollen appetite lalala........ well Im glad to hear you talk this way, Ive watched you riding every day and something in me, yearns to win, such a cold, such a lonesome heroine and who are you, she sternly spoke, to the one beneath the smoke why, Im fire, he replied and I love your solitude, I love your pride lalala.... well then fire make your body cold, Im gonna give you mine to hold and saying this, she climbed inside, to be his one, to be his only bride then deep into his fiery heart, he took the dust of joan of arc and high above all the wedding guests, he hung the ashes of her lovely wedding dress lalala... It was deep into his fiery heart, he took the dust of joan of arc and then she clearly understood, if he was fire oh.. she must be wood I saw her wince, I saw her cry, I saw the glory in her eyes myself I long for love and light but must it come so cruel, must it be so bright.Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is ...

Leonard Cohen (with Jennifer Warnes) - If It Be Your Will -

When asked to explain this song, Cohen replied that it was "a murmured prayer". Typical Cohen mystique. I chose symbols to represent the meaning it has for me. Some of the images used in this video are a brief reference to the 5 years that Cohen spent secluded in a Zen monastery. Appears on the albums, "Various Positions" (1984), "The Essential Leonard Cohen" (2002) and "Live in London" (2008) Jennifer Warnes, often referred to as "the singer's singer", is the female back-up who also did a very successful tribute album to Cohen "Famous Blue Raincoat" (1987).

From Way Down Deep By Jennifer Warnes To A Thousand Kisses Deep By Leonard Cohen

This video begins with Jennifer Warnes singing the gorgeous but routinely overlooked "Way Down Deep" (by Jennifer Warnes, Leonard Cohen, and Amy Latelevision) from her 1992 album, The Hunter, which is followed by Leonard Cohen's July 20, 2009 recitation of "A Thousand Kisses Deep" in Dublin. The idea behind this project was to juxtapose the earliest performed precursor of Cohen's now classic "A Thousand Kisses Deep" with the most recent version. Jennifer Warnes : If It Be Your Will

Many of us have owned a copy of Jennifer's "Famous Blue Raincoat" album for as long as it has been available, first on LP and later CD. When the 20th anniversary edition of the recording came out, remastered with four bonus tracks, it was hard to resist. Jennifer has worked with Leonard Cohen, is a friend, and brings a grace and elegance to her performances of his songs. "If It Be Your Will" is one of the newly-added tracks, a beautiful rendition. The artwork in the video is my own. DL

Joan of Arc - Jennifer Warnes & Leonard Cohen

The story of Joan of Arc is one of the most wonderful stories in the history of any nation of Europe. In the hour of France's need, when she was being conquered by English armies, when her forces were so divided by civil war that it seemed as if there were no true Frenchmen, but that every lord and district were for themselves, when she had no recognized king, but only an uncrowned Dauphin.......in this hour of her need there appeared for France a Maiden, a deliverer. Joan died a cruel death, but the work which she had begun in France did not die with her. She had united the French and they did not fall apart again into quarrelsome factions. King Charles showed a new spirit as he began his reign. Even through the dangers of war he took time to unite his nobles and keep them in order under him. The English were driven out by this newly roused French nation. The Hundred Years' War was ended, and a peace was concluded by which France was left free within her own provinces, untroubled by foreigners. Many movies, books, poems, songs have been written on the subject of Joan of Arc. In this video, the Leonard Cohen song, "Joan of Arc" is featured as sung by Jennifer Warnes with several images that are hopefully interwoven to reflect a variety of Joan of Arc facets in the past and in our present day. I chose to focus on the face of Renée Maria Falconetti from the 1928 movie "La Passion de Jeanne d'Arc" -The director, Dreyer, wrote in his "Thoughts on My Craft", "Nothing in the ...
