Production underway on JODOROWSKY'S DUNE It was announced today (May 12, 2011) that LA based Snowfort Pictures, Camera One of France and Koch Media of Germany have begun production on Frank Pavich's sci-fi documentary JODOROWSKY'S DUNE. Shooting has wrapped in France, Switzerland and the UK with filming to continue this summer in the United States. Picture will be completed by late fall. The documentary covers cult film director Alejandro Jodorowsky and his 1974 attempt to create a big-screen adaptation of Frank Herbert's seminal science fiction novel, DUNE. While the ambitious production collapsed after two years, Jodorowsky's team of then relatively unknown concept artists continued exploring the themes and styles started on the project and ended up changing modern science fiction forever: HR Giger went on to Ridley Scott's masterpiece ALIEN, Dan O'Bannon wrote ALIEN and TOTAL RECALL, Jean "Moebius" Giraud created artwork and futuristic worlds for THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, TRON, and THE FIFTH ELEMENT and Chris Foss would go on to work on ALIEN and SUPERMAN. Growing up in Paris, Adan is currently living and working as a musician in Mexico City. As a child he played with his brother Christobal in his father's (Alejandro Jondorowsky) movie Santa Sangre, learned dancing from James Brown and playing the guitar from George Harrison. He ended up creating his own way as an actor, tango dancer, poet and devoted musician with a positive outlook on life. He changed his name to Adanowsky after seeing a shaman in Mexico. With every new record his old persona dies and a new one is born. From amador to idol -- Adanowsky likes to play and create all that in a folk unique way. When thinking about avant-garde and a person he truly admires, Adan had just one name in his mind his brother Christobal. „Not because he is my brother" -- but because his art touches and has a bigger meaning. Besides being an artist Christobal is also a healer. His colorful symbolic art is inspired by their father's heritage and love of tarot cards, which Christobal always carries with him. He also uses symbols and icons he finds in religion, ancient & modern culture and gives them meaning by turning them into something new. There is an element of joy and freedom to his art and the inspiring words he writes on his paintings reveal his life philosophy. La Montaña Sagrada (The Holy Mountain, reissued as The Sacred Mountain) is a 1973 cult film directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky who also participated as actor, composer, set designer, and costume designer. The film was produced by Beatles manager Allen Klein of ABKCO after Jodorowsky scored an underground phenomenon with El Topo and the acclaim of both John Lennon and George Harrison (Lennon and Yoko Ono put up production money). It was shown at various international film festivals in 1973, including Cannes, and limited screenings in New York and San Francisco. However the film was never given wide release until 2007, when a restored print toured the United States, screening with El Topo, and released in DVD format from May 1. The film contains nudity, graphic depictions of animal slaughter and gore.[

Best known for his avant-garde films, he has been "venerated by cult cinema enthusiasts" for his work which "is filled with violently surreal images and a hybrid blend of mysticism and religious provocation." His most notable works include El Topo (1970), The Holy Mountain (1973) and Santa Sangre (1989), all of which have had limited release but achieved popularity amongst various countercultural groups. Daniel Pinchbeck (born June 15, 1966) is an author and advocate of the use of psychedelic substances such as LSD, Psilocybin mushrooms and peyote for enriching people's intellectual, psychological and spiritual beliefs through the psychedelic experience. He is the author of Breaking Open the Head: A Psychedelic Journey into the Heart of Contemporary Shamanism and 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl.
