This is a scene from the 1984 independent film "The Brother From Another Planet" by director John Sayles. The protagonist of the film (Joe Morton) is an alien who has the appearance of a black man. The alien finds his way into the New York Subway system and encounters a fast talking card trickster/street magician (Fisher Stevens). The ending may not ring true in today's NYC, but it says something about the era. The film is much deeper than the name would imply, and is highly recommended. This is one of the most underrated New York scenes in cinema.
