On December 9th Alpinestars joined DC Shoes at an exclusive ride day at the Pala Raceway to help celebrate the launch of DCs new motocross and FMX training facility. Riders that came out included Alpinestars Jeremy McGrath, Nate Adams, Robbie Maddison, Jolene Van Vugt, Josh Hill, Davi Milsaps, Adam Cianciarulo, Zach Bell, Chase Bell, Tommy Searle and the DNA Stix/ Star Racing/ Yamaha Team including Nico Izzi, Martin Davalos, and Max Anstie. This was the Kovacs inspired game show which involved Ernie's celebrity guests determining the game contestent's feat, occupation, or other newsworthy event through the use of prerecorded video "clues" that were embeded, somewhat vaguely, in the Kovacs created comedy sketches. The panelists included at various times Cesar Romero, Ernie's wife Edie Adams, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Jim Backus, Hans Conreid, and Carl Reiner. Former "Dead End Kid" (or "Bowery Boy" depending on your age) Dr. Bernard Punsly makes an appearence as one of the game's contestents. This part also includes the famous Dutch Masters commercial where Ernie is in a water tank and proceedes to "light up" and blow "smoke" from his cigar. To achieve the smoke effect, Ernie expelled milk from his mouth. Also showing is the full video clip of Chef Miklos Molnar in the kitchen with the lovely Jolene Brand. She appears to be getting hit on with more than just eggs.

[From "Kovacs Corner" on YouTube.com] - Not all of Kovacs' segments centered around satire or comedy. Here is a thematic clip showcasing lovely co-star Jolene Brand. We see her, her room mates, and their male suitors (Bobby Lauher and Joe Mikolas) in preparation for a romantic evening. The video display's Kovacs' sense of complementing the visuals with music, and a good dose of pathos. Starting at 1:13, Ernie musical selection for the piece includes George Gershwin's "Piano Concerto in F". [Updated September 2, 2010] I had just watched some of the video on YT recorded with the late Edie Adams suggesting that Ernie did not like to have "actors" as his supporting players. She indicated that Ernie felt that they "contributed too much" that distracted from Kovacs' conceptional ideas about his work. If this was true, I think that in the case of Jolene Brand, Ernie made a huge exception. Not only did she play with his comedy fairly well as we see in many of his other clips, but she is also giving a very strong emotional expression to this video's character. She was an accomplished professional actress in her own right, playing in episodes of TV's "Zorro", "Gunsmoke", and "Maverick" among others. FYI, she has been married to "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In" producer George Schlatter.
