KRBK Promo Block - 1981

Channel 31 reinvented itself in the Spring of 1981 as KRBK, airing movies, game shows and syndicated TV series in attempted competition with powerful independent KTXL. These promos ran incessantly throughout March of '81.
KRBK Commercial Block - 10/30/85

Block of spots from KRBK's broadcast of the Twilight Zone episode "People are Alike All Over" at 11pm on 10/30/85.
TV Guide commercial and KRBK promo circa 1983

TV Guide commercial (coincidentally this aired during "20 Minute Workout" which is shown in this commercial) and a promo for "Soap" on KRBK Channel 31 in Sacramento featuring the first logo used when the station adopted those call letters and I think this was also their first announcer.
KRBK bumper and 1981 Danskin commercial

Bumper from KRBK, channel 31 in Sacramento (which had more call letter changes than any other station in the area) for "20 Minute Workout" and disco-ish commercial for Danskin.
1983 Commercials: Kaufman, KRBK, Burger King, Waters

1. Kaufman Carpet Sale--With Joel Bogart, VP of Merchandising, and the Marching Middies from Middletown, New York 2. KRBK TV 3 in Sacremento, CA--promo for I Dream of Jeannie (repeat) 3. Burger King Muffin Stuffin's--It took this long for Burger King to compete with McDonald's famouse Egg McMuffin? 4. 2 great commercials for Raging Waters amusement park (with 2 great stunts) **These commercials are from my 1977-83 Commercials volume 2 set**

KRBK Channel 31 Sacramento sign-off from 1986

Re-uploading this in STEREO! Recorded in 1986, though some footage dates back to 1982 (you can briefly see part of the old "Super Movie" intro in one part.) Announcer is Ray Nakamoto, who did most of the station's voiceovers as well as several commercials in the Sacramento area. I think he now runs a production studio. Channel 31 started out in 1974 as KMUV, became KRBK in 1981, KPWB in 1995 and KMAX in 1998. They are now a Can't Watch Network station, but at least run their other shows bug-free. (This station has actually at one time been an affiliate of WB, UPN and now CW, and I'm proud to say I've never watched a single show on any of them!) I've heard this production-music tune in several different incarnations, including the United Artists Theatres trailer in the 1980s. If anyone knows the name of this tune please let me know! KRBK was the 2nd station in the area to start broadcasting in stereo back in 1985, and carried the first regularly-scheduled show in stereo- "Voltron". Sound here is an example of the processed stereo used on mono material.

1983 Commercials: Waters, Great Adventure, KRBK, WNBC

1. Promo for "Raging Waters" with the guy in the water-filled phone booth (that's quite a dangerous stunt!). Where is this from? I think this was an amusement park. 2. Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ--I've been there three times and NEVER went on that scary Free Fall! 3. KRBK-TV Channel 31 Sacremento, CA logo featuring "I Dream of Jeannie" 4. WNBC Channel 4 New York Logo 5. WNBC News Special Report on Banks--hearing this is quite scary! **These commercials are from my 1977-83 Commercials volume 2 set**

1985 KRBK show bumper

KRBK channel 31 in Sacramento often had 5-second bumpers for their shows before commercial breaks started- this one of course is for 20 Minute Workout (my mom wanted one episode recorded so she could exercise to it, of course she never used it.) This logo first went into use in 1984, the first logo change for that incarnation of the station.
KRBK Disasterpiece Theater Open 1982

This was the first (and last) bit of creative production I did for KRBK while I worked there. This only aired a few times in 1982 and 1983 as Disasterpiece Theater was canceled shortly thereafter (not my fault).
