ATS American Tribal Style Class level 1 & 2 taught by Lenay of Kamalah They teach on Fridays at Plaza de Anaya American Tribal Style Belly Dance (ATS) is a modern style of dance created by FatChanceBellyDance Director, Carolena Nericcio. ATS is a defined set of movements rooted in the traditional dances of North Africa, Central Asia, and India. ATS is known for its strong posture, defined isolations, subtle cues, group formations, and improvisational style. In this class you will learn the basic moves of American Tribal Style, the powerful, group improvisational format created by FatChanceBellyDance. Each class will include warm up and stretch, posture, one slow move, one fast move and plenty of drills and review. Appropriate dress includes full skirt or yoga pants, short top, tank top or leotard (wear something comfortable that conforms to your body so you can see yourself move!) and optional hip scarf. Bare feet or dance shoes only in dance studio. You will need a pair of zils (finger cymbals) by the second class of the session. Always wanted to learn Tribal...heres your chance! Fall Festival of Music & Dance 2010
Arizona's Chapter of MECDA's 4th annual festival promotion video. This year the festival will feature workshops with Princess Farhana. Levant al Sonora, Arizona's chapter of the Middle Eastern Culture & Dance Association celebrates its 4th Anniversary on Saturday, Nov. 6th with the Fall Festival of Music and Dance. This annual event is the largest locally produced bellydance event in the state of Arizona for the past three years. Attendees will enjoy ongoing entertainment by dancers and bands from throughout the state. Last year's stage boasted over 100 dancers and 4 live bands, including Cosmos and Traveler World Music, both returning this year. The front lawn of the Alwun House will be transformed into an exotic marketplace with a henna artist, and a drum circle for open jam and dancing. Guests can feast on authentic delicious Arabic food or relax with a hookah while they enjoy the performances. When the sun goes down, the stars will come out! The Gala Show, starting at 7pm will feature Arizona's premiere professional cabaret and tribal dance artists and very special guest, Princess Farhana from Hollywood, California. Levant al Sonora is a volunteer-run, non-profit organization devoted to showcasing the music and dance arts of the Middle East. Their mission is to provide educational and performance opportunities to the musicians and dancers throughout the state, and represent and encourage appreciation of these arts to the general public.
