Albert Jarvinen - Teenage Nervous Breakdown

Albert Järvinen was a very respected finnish rock'n'roll and blues guitarist. He was guitarist in the legendary finnish band Hurriganes, but this video is from his project on a break from 'Ganes' in 1974. Singer here is Pave Maijanen who has also played from the 1960's. Albert Järvinen died in 1991.
The Buckinghams - Kind Of A Drag

Compare this with American Breed. Same applies here: melody, chorus, etc. But these guys did it even better. So they hit number one. Brian Wilson would have made five different melodies more to the tune ;-)
Herman's Hermits - End Of The World

Hermits are performing at the finnish amusement park's theathre. End Of The World is an old Skeeter Davis hit, I think. Hermits are wearing traditional finnish Lappland's four-wind hats. 'Cute' Peter Noone makes 'funny' faces. Well actually he is cute, like a bunny The Littlest Pet Shop toys.
Mothers Of Invention - Montana

Zappa is really something. Because I do not speak english as my mother tongue, I don't quite get his humor. There is weird contrast between his lyrics and compositions & arranging. I haven't much listened to his music except Freak Out -album. I love it because of those doo-wop and pop clues.
Chuck Berry - Johnny B. Goode

The real king of Rock'n'Roll playing the All Time Number One Rock'n'Roll tune. Too bad the host of the show spoke on the all time number one guitar intro, so I had to cut the beginning. Berry and Diddley were the men who created RnR, Alan Freed babtised it and Presley introduced it to the white folks. Thank you all.
Gerry and the Pacemakers - How Do You Do

Gerry Marsden and his mates got their three first singles number one 1963 in the UK. If I have understood right it was somewhat of a historical moment then. Next year: three top 10 hits and the following year two top 30 hits. Wikipedia sez this hit was offered first to the Beatles and they did record it but they chose to release their own composition Please, Please Me. If you hear bending in the sound, you heard right. This vid is digitized from my 20 year old videotape. Live with it.
Steppenwolf - Magic Carpet Ride

One usually hears the Born to be wild -hit. I wonder why the singer picks up his guitar to play not more than four notes. And: Bass player, bass player, you took the wrong clothes to the video shoot.
