灰野敬二Keiji Haino Percussion Pt. 1

Solo performances for percussion have always been at the centre of Keiji Haino's art. In them, Haino deploys a huge variety of handheld percussion, from tiny cymbals, bells and gongs, to tambourines, jagged pieces of metal and Harry Bertoia-esque specially-made resonating sculptures. These performances, legendarily intense present the crystallization of the physicality of Haino's music, his attitude to rhythm, to the persistence of sound itself. Though relatively rare now, these solo percussion concerts always have a special hushed atmosphere of concentration, silent communion, and mystery. Keiji Inafune Leaves Capcom

Just when you thought things couldn't get worse for Capcom, it does! Keiji Inafune (INAFKING) leaves Capcom saying "I'll never work with them again." Inafune-san is ready to climb another mountain, which tells me Capcom didn't challenge him enough. We've seen this too many times now when legends leave companies, only to be replaced by unworthy successors. (Square) But what does the future hold for Capcom or Japanese gaming in general? Kidou Keiji Jiban Denshi Techou 機動刑事ジバン 電子手帳

This is my first video review that DOESN'T involve a Sentai Changer. Instead I am looking at the Deluxe Denshi [Police] Techou from Kidou Keiji Jiban [or Policial de Aço Jiban if you happen to be from Brazil]. Frankly, I didn't care for the series much. I also don't like the "But dude, it's Japan's answer to Robocop." hype it gets. Putting that aside, I made this short review of a toy I picked up for $8 some years back... It truly is a forgotten gem. I mean, it's a well made toy for one! Very solid, and plenty of working electronics. There is a game, there is a splatter of lights, there are commands for Jiban's three vehicles, and the best part is the little rendition of the Jiban opening theme song [which appears in short version at the end of this video, a longer version will be included in a later video]. All in all, if you spot this toy...pick it up! It's usually very cheap. I happened to find mine in a local toy store for dirt, but this toy can also be had on Yahoo Japan Auctions for next to nothin'. My next review will be back to Sentai!

Keiji Nishitani and Buddhist Existentialism in Japan

by Lance Stilp through Professor Rev. Dr. James K. Powell II, opensourcebuddhism.org This very thoughtful investigation reveals the close relationship between Germany and Japan during WWII and the resultant Japanese importation of Heidegger's Existentialism by Nishitani. Nishitani goes far further than the European existentialists in our opinion, adding the sophistication of Zen thought especially that of Dogen to the Existentialist tradition. He is a pure mix of "Eastern" and "Western" ideas.

Uchuu Keiji ACTION WORKS Weapon Set ギャバン シャリバン シャイダー

Welcome to the fifth and final video in my ACTION WORKS Uchuu Keiji series of videos! As I explained in the reviews of the figures, the Action Works line is made by a Bandai subsidiary called MegaHouse. These are smaller scale figures with several points of articulation and multiple accessories. I didn't count how many points of articulation there are, but the neck alone has two, which is one more than I would've expected. This set was a mail-away promotion that was released the year after the figures were released. Included in this set is... 1. Laser Blade [Gavan] 2. Prism Goggles [Sharivan] 3. Big Magnum [Shaider] Let me break this down by item... Laser Blade - This is a slmiline version of the Laser Blade. There really isn't much to say about it other than the quality being a little subpar. If you look at it, you can see some cloudiness where the color is darker in some areas. Also, there is a black dot which I am convinced is inside the Blade since I can't seem to remove it. Prism Goggles - These are pretty neat. They look a little strange when he is wearing them, but they do fit nicely. Quality is good, I like it. Big Magnum - This is the main event of the set. Very detailed, and very cool. The Big Magnum is when Shaider's Ship/Mecha, Vavilos, transforms into a giant gun. Seeing as Shaider never *really* held the Big Magnum in the show, it does make sense that the figure can't hold it either. I'm not disappointed, but I can see why some other collectors might be ...

The Top Ten Moves of Keiji Mutoh

Keiji Mutoh is a man that needs little introduction to the vast majority of wrestling fans. Mutoh first became a household name when he came to the US, then almost exclusively wrestling as the Great Muta. He ignited the WCW ranks, and brought a style that few, if any, had ever seen at that point, topped off with his mysterious Poison Mist technique, and the ever so spectacular Moonsault. During his time with WCW, he had some great matches against the likes of Sting, Arn Anderson, and Ric Flair. During this time, he was also the IWGP Heavyweight Champion, and in late 1992, he would hold both the IWGP Heavyweight Title and the NWA World Heavyweight Title. He would also have a match against then-WWF Champion Hulk Hogan at the Tokyo Dome. As the years wore on, eventually Mutoh phased out the Muta character, and began wrestling as himself, shaving his head and growing out a goatee, becoming what many know as his "Shining Wizard" persona. He innovated the Shining Wizard in 2001, and since then, it's put down some big names, from Toshiaki Kawada, Genichiro Tenryu, and Kensuke Sasaki. The Great Muta character has also returned, just as demonic as before. Mutoh's style is incredibly well rounded. His style as Mutoh is best described as elegant, intelligent, and focused, while Muta brings savagery and brute force to bring his opponents to his knees. The Poison Mist can do some significant damage, and the Moonsault and Shining Wizard will finish just about any opponent in his way.
