www.frettedamericana.com This totally original Les Paul Standard Gold Topweighs just 8.70 lbs. and has nice, fat nut width of 1 11/16 inches and a standard Gibson scale length of 24 3/4 inches. Solid mahogany body with a solid carved maple top, one-piece mahogany neck with a nice, thick profile, and Brazilian rosewood fretboard with 22 original thin frets and inlaid pearl trapezoid (crown) position markers. Two beautifully balanced and very hot P-90 pickups with outputs of 7.90k and 7.89k. Cream plastic pickup covers. Four controls (two volume, two tone) on lower treble bout plus three-way pickup selector switch. Combination "wrap-over" bar bridge/stud tailpiece. This guitar is 100% original with just one exception - the original 1953 half-inch stud anchors have been professionally replaced with 1954 one-inch stud anchors (the originals are included in the case). This is a very positive improvement - as the early Les Paul Gold Tops and Juniors were very prone to the stud anchor actually coming loose and weakening the holes in the top. Fortunately the changing of the stud anchors was carried out before any signs of weakness in the top became apparent. The back of the guitar is exceptionally clean with no no belt-buckle rash. The gold top is has a couple of very small surface marks. There is virtually no fret wear and the back of the neck has just a few very small surface marks - but no real playing wear. There is some wear on the side of the body which only affects the <b>...</b>

For many Ethiopian girls, employment as a housemaid in Dubai is their only hope of paid work. They earn one hundred dollars a month for a 24/7 job in the household of an Arab family. Back home, this kind of money would be beyond their wildest dreams. But once they arrive in the "dreamland" of Dubai, the dream rapidly turns into a nightmare. From then on, life turns into a struggle for sheer survival. They are the slaves of the 21st century, trapped in a dilemma from which there is no way out. Resistance can easily have fatal consequences. Many African housemaids are so desperate that they end up committing suicide. Very few of them manage to escape. If they do get away, they end up wandering aimlessly through the streets of Dubai with nowhere to go. NGOs operating under cover do their best to offer these fugitive housemaids a roof over their heads and to keep them from being imprisoned for vagrancy. This video was shared on DOD's Armed with Science blog: go.usa.gov Produced for the National Naval Medical Center in 1973, The Return of Count Spirochete is a delightful animated cartoon dramatizing the medical facts about venereal disease. As the story begins, we join the (probably) world famous "Communicable Disease of the Year Award" ceremony, which acknowledges the one disease that has "done the most effective job of contaminating others." Smallpox, diphtheria, tuberculosis, and the common cold are all serious contenders for the coveted "Fourth Horseman." However, in a surprising turn of events, the award goes to Count Spirochete (aka syphilis), much to the chagrin of the other contestants. In response to their outrage, the master of ceremonies then proceeds to explain in graphic detail the various reasons why Count Spirochete is deserving of the award.
