King Crimson - Red

King Crimson is a rock band founded in 1969. Although typically categorised as a foundational progressive rock group, the band has incorporated diverse influences and instrumentation during its history. The band has been influential on many contemporary musical artists and gained a large cult following despite garnering little radio or music video airplay. The band's lineup (centred on guitarist Robert Fripp) has persistently altered throughout its existence, with eighteen musicians and two lyricists passing through the ranks. A greater degree of stability was achieved later on in its history (with current frontman Adrian Belew having been a consistent member since 1981). In the Court of the Crimson King released in 1969 is their debut album. It is generally viewed as one of the strongest of the progressive rock genre, where King Crimson largely stripped away the blues-based foundations of rock music and mixed together with jazz and European symphonic elements. In his 1997 book Rocking the Classics, critic and musicologist Edward Macan notes that In the Court of the Crimson King "may be the most influential progressive rock album ever released".

King Crimson - The Court Of The Crimson King

King Crimson - The Court Of The Crimson King Lyrics: The dance of the puppets The rusted chains of prison moons Are shattered by the sun. I walk a road, horizons change The tournament's begun. The purple piper plays his tune, The choir softly sing; Three lullabies in an ancient tongue, For the court of the crimson king. The keeper of the city keys Put shutters on the dreams. I wait outside the pilgrim's door With insufficient schemes. The black queen chants The funeral march, The cracked brass bells will ring; To summon back the fire witch To the court of the crimson king. The gardener plants an evergreen Whilst trampling on a flower. I chase the wind of a prism ship To taste the sweet and sour. The pattern juggler lifts his hand; The orchestra begin. As slowly turns the grinding wheel In the court of the crimson king. On soft gray mornings widows cry The wise men share a joke; I run to grasp divining signs To satisfy the hoax. The yellow jester does not play But gentle pulls the strings And smiles as the puppets dance In the court of the crimson king.

King Crimson - I Talk to the Wind

Songwriters: I. MCDONALD, P. SINFIELD, M. GILES, G. LAKE, R. FRIPP I Talk to the Wind Said the straight man to the late man Where have you been I've been here and I've been there And I've been in between. I talk to the wind My words are all carried away I talk to the wind The wind does not hear The wind cannot hear. I'm on the outside looking inside What do I see Much confusion, disillusion All around me. You don't possess me Don't impress me Just upset my mind Can't instruct me or conduct me Just use up my time I talk to the wind My words are all carried away I talk to the wind The wind does not hear The wind cannot hear.

Wake your reasons' hollow vote Wear your blizzard season coat Burn a bridge and burn a boat Stake a Lizard by the throat Go Polonius or kneel The reapers name their harvest dawn All your tarnished devil's spoons Will rust beneath our corn. King Crimson - Asbury Park - 1974 Live

Album USA was performed in summer of 1974 at the Casino, Asbury Park. Robert Fripp (guitar/mellotron) David Cross (violin) John Wetton (bass/vocals) Bill Bruford (drums/percussion) During the recording of Red, an exhausted Robert Fripp announced to his stunned fellow members that King Crimson was over. The group however did a final tour across the States before splitting up and going in their own directions. In effect, USA promptly became a must have for fans, and it's still a precious one nowadays, especially for historical reasons. At the time, USA was their first and last official live recording ever released in the 70's. On top of that, it took nearly 20 years before King Crimson would release some more live performances from the Larks' Tongues in Aspic-era. USA was performed in summer of 1974 at the Casino, Asbury Park.
