Korean beef barbecue ("LA Galbi")

How to make real LA style Korean BBQ. Recipe is posted on my website! www.maangchi.com Ingredients (for 4-6 servings): 3.5 LB (1.5 kg) of LA style beef short ribs, soy sauce, water, honey, garlic, onion, ginger, pear, sesame oil, sesame seeds, black ground pepper, soybean paste, hot pepper paste, green onions, lettuce, perilla leaves, green chili pepper, cucumber, and carrot. See photos and descriptions of ingredients on my website: www.maangchi.com Directions: 1. Trim excess fat from the short ribs and rinse a couple times in cold water. 2. Soak the ribs in cold water for 10-20 minutes to remove the blood. Make marinade: 1. In a large bowl, add 1/3 cup soy sauce, 1/3 cup water or cooking wine, and ¼ cup honey (or 1/3 cup brown sugar). 2. Blend 1 Korean pear (about 2 cups' worth), 8 cloves of garlic, 1 medium onion, and 1 ts of chopped ginger until it turns into a white creamy liquid. 3. Add it to your soy sauce base and add 2 tbs sesame oil. *tip: If you can't find a Korean pear, use 2 ripe bosc pears. I sometimes use bosc pears and they work well. 4. Rinse the short ribs in fresh cold water a couple more times to remove any remaining bone fragments. Drain the water. 5. Add the ribs to the marinade and mix it well, by hand. 6. Keep it in the refrigerator for at least an hour. Overnight is better, but an hour is ok if you are short of time. Make dipping sauce: 1. Mix these 2 tbs soy bean paste, 1 tbs of hot pepper paste, 1 stalk of chopped green onion, 1 clove of minced ...

If the oil bubbles, it's the right temperature to start frying. Fry them using the double-frying method: 1. Fry the chicken chunks for 10 minutes over high heat. 2. Take them out of the oil and shake them off in a strainer. Let them sit for a few minutes. 3. Korean Food: Cabbage Side-dish (양배추 무침)

Yangbaechu Moochim (양배추 무침) is a simple Korean side-dish recipe that I learned from one of my Korean friends in America. When you want to eat Kimchi, but don't have it, this cabbage side-dish can be a substitute. The taste is a little spicy, sour, and sweet. Depending on your tastes, you can add or reduce some of the ingredients such as pepper powder, vinegar, sugar, or salt. Cabbage is a very healthy vegetable, it is especially good for your stomach. So I want to recommend this easy Korean side-dish for you. *^^* Song for this Video: Artist: 원더걸스 (Wondergirls) Title: Friends

Korean Food: Radish Kimchi (깍두기)

Korean radish kimchi (kkak-do-gi=깍두기) is one type of Kimchi made with Korean radish. Serve this kimchi with rice, soup and other Korean side dishes. * I only tried Korean fish sauce to make kimchi, so I recommend you to use Korean fish sauce. Other types of fish sauce might work. If you try another type, let me know the results. * If you don't have sweet rice flour, you can use normal flour instead, but sweet rice flour is definitely better than normal flour for kimchi. * Leave the kimchi outside for a day after you make it, then put it in the refrigerator for several days before you serve it. (at least 5 days, depending on your refrigerator temperature.) I hope you like this. If you have any question please let me know. !!! :) Songs for this Video: Artist: 코요테 (Koyote) Title: 1. 상상 / 2. 해피바이러스

Korean Food: Stuffed Peppers (고추전)

Main Ingredients: 1 Cup Ground Beef 6 Hot Peppers 1 Sweet pepper 4 Eggs & 1/4 Cup Flour For the Beef: 1 Green Onion, 1 Tbsp Garlic 1 1/2 Tbsp Soy Sauce, 1 Tbsp Sugar 1/2 Tbsp Cooking Wine, 1 tsp Sesame Oil, 1/8 Black Pepper Korean Stuffed Peppers (고추전= Go-chu-jeon) is a Korean holiday food, and it is one of my favorite foods. I learned how to make this from my mom, and my mom used to make this for holidays or special days. The marinated beef, hot pepper, and egg combination gives you a very tasty and happy flavor. We usually use less spicy peppers for this recipe because you don't want peppers that are so hot that they cover the flavors in the other ingredients. If you can't eat spicy food then I recommend that you to use sweet peppers instead. So I used both peppers in this recipe. You can eat this dish just plain or as a side-dish.

Here is how to make your own dumpling wrappers ^^ Ingredients: 1 Cup Flour 1 tsp Salt 1/3 Cup Water 1. Shift 1 cup of flour. (So you will get fine flour) 2. Add 1 tsp of salt to 1/3 cup of water. Mix until the salt dissolves. 3. Slowly add the salt water into the flour. 4. Knead the flour. The dough should be a little hard so the wrapper will not be torn when you cook the dumplings later. 5. Cover the dough with the plastic wrap or wet cotton clothing and set it aside for 30 minutes to 1 hour. (It will get elastic). 6. 30 minutes to 1 hour later, knead the dough again, then spread some flour on the table, then roll it very thinly with roller. 7. Stamp the thin dough with 2 or 3 inch round cookie cutter. (You can find things for this in your kitchen, how about small glass cup or glass bowl?? or.. round lid ??) tip : If you sprinkle the wrappers with some ...
