Mate Miso Kovac 1976 Kad jednom odes ne vracaj se vise. Mišo Kovač (born July 17, 1941) is a Croatian singer who is one of the most popular musical icons in Croatia today. Mišo Kovač was born to Zrinka and Jakov Kovač on 16 July 1941 in Tribunj, a modern-day Croatian town close to Šibenik at a time when the region was under Italian occupation during World War II. He had a sister named Blanka and a brother named Ratko. Young Mišo Kovač was learning the trade of carpet maker, but his appearance at a talent show in Karlovac changed his life. He made such an impression with his rendition of I Can't Stop Loving You by Ray Charles that he decided to become a professional singer. His first hit came in 1969 with the song Više se neće vratiti (sold in half a million copies) and in 1970 he won the prestigious Split Music Festival with the song Proplakat će zora (also half a million copies). This and other songs, inspired by Dalmatian folk music, helped Mišo Kovač establish himself as the most popular singers in Croatia. In the next two decades, Mišo Kovač won many prestigious festival awards, topped music charts and sold vinyl discs, cassettes and CDs in record numbers. His song Dalmacija u mom oku (Dalmatia In My Eye) was seen as a semi-official anthem of Dalmatia. Mišo Kovač was also one of the first entertainers in Croatia to use image and lifestyle in order to maintain popularity. This is the original version for the first single off of Matthew Good's highly successful debut solo album "Avalanche." Rumour has it that Matthew Good thought this version was terrible, and so he fired Ante Kovac (the director)as a result. Matthew Good took over the reigns and released the official video (with all the script and flashing subliminal messages). Ironically enough, the version of Weapon we all know and love won the 2003 Juno Award for Best Music Video -- but the award was handed out to Ante Kovac, not Matthew Good! The video is essentially the same concept as the official version, minus the written script and the flashing subliminal messages. A lot of camera angles were cut out as well.

Percy Dovetonsils was a take off on a particular genre of television show found in the early fifties (at least in the New York City area). Usually airing during the early to mid afternoons, this type of show was intended to appeal to the harried little housewife during her break between finishing the laundry and starting dinner (the SNL sketch "The Continental", with the great comedic performance by Christopher Walken, was in fact based on such a show by the same name). So Percy would wax poetry...very bad poetry...in an effort to entertain housewives. Tell me that I might be wrong, but I somehow feel his personal attraction was directed more to their working husbands! BTW, Percy indicates that he is offering "a cluuuue". This sequence apparently had been created as one of the "clue" seqments of his game show "Take a Good Look".

On this occasion I was fortunately able to document my encounter. What you will witness here is a rare glimpse into the madness & magic that surrounded Michael wherever he went, from my point of view. You will be able to see this as if from my eyes, and you may experience something of what it was like to be so close to the King of Pop. During the chaos (and out of camera view) Michael gave me his hand to hold as we walked. He briefly lifts our hands into view of the camera, as he understood I was trying to record this. I hope this video brings you further understanding of Michael's LOVE and the power of his stardom.
