Alison Krauss - When You Say Nothing At All

alisonkrauss.com Alison Krauss Website For Alison Krauss, musical collaboration has been a way of life. Her own story, of course, has been nothing short of amazing: signed to Rounder Records as a precocious, 14 year-old fiddler from Champaign, Illinois, she has, over two decades, become the most recognized face in contemporary bluegrass and a critically acclaimed artist who has brought modern sophistication to the genre while respecting its traditions. Krauss has consistently worked to honor her influences, like contemporary bluegrass pioneer Tony Rice, to promote discoveries like the Cox Family and Nickel Creek and to offer her skills as producer for those artists and others, most recently, country star Alan Jackson. With her twelfth release, A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection, Krauss gathers on one elegantly understated disc several previously released collaborations with such artists and friends as Brad Paisley, John Waite, James Taylor, Natalie MacMaster and The Chieftains, along with songs she cut for the films Cold Mountain, O Brother, Where Art Thou? and an inspired by album for the animated The Prince Of Egypt. Already making its way to radio is the remake of Waites Missing You, which the Seattle Post-Intelligencer has called a killer duet with an incandescent Krauss. She also recorded and produced five new tracks, including a soulful slow-dance tempo of Don Williams Lay Down Beside Me with Rounder Records label-mate Waite, to create something far more than ...

To all who missed making decent comments here, and especially to those who sent me personal messages about it, I was thrilled to learn that installing Internet Explorer 9 solved the problem I had with YouTube, so that I can again delete undesirable comments and block those who make them. Also, it was very satisfying to see the comments (I thought had been lost) re-populate when I turned comments back on.

Ah, mes amis - Fille Contest - Alfredo Kraus

I thought it was time we gave the tenors a turn. There are so many wonderful belcanto tenor aria and one of the most celebrated is from Donizetti's frech La Fille du Regiment. It is a wonderful display of lyric singing, and of course those 9 high c's. When putting together this contest, I was stuck with the absence of some of the "big name" tenors, however, there is some really wonderful singing here. I hope everyone takes the time to watch all of the clips, I found it interesting the differnt approaches taken to this difficult aria. Again a score of 1-5 for singing/characterization: Alfredo Kraus - 1983 Deon van der Walt - 1993 Charles Burles - 1972 Bruce Sledge - 2007 Jean-Luc Maurette - 1989 Marc Laho - 1998 Luca Canonici - 1992 Gregory Kunde - 1999 Juan Diego Florez - 2007 Marcelo Alvarez - 1995 José Sempere - 2002 Rockwell Blake - 1995 Paul Austin Kelly - 1996 Rockwell Blake - 1990 Alferdo Kraus - 1986 Juan Diego Florez - 2004

**CLICK ON "MORE INFO" FOR LINK FOR MP3 DOWNLOAD!!!** If you use profanity in your comments, your comment will be removed. Don't show your stupidity by using it. In light of a recent comment left by a viewer on May 3, 2009, viewers should be aware that there is a lot of erroneous information about Keith's bio, most notably the bio on CMT.com, which is chock full of glaring errors. Keith's given name at birth was JACKIE Keith Whitley, not Jesse Keith Whitley. Jesse Keith Whitley is the biological son of Jackie Keith Whitley and Loretta Lynn "Lorrie" Morgan, born in 1987. Jackie Keith Whitley was born in Kings Daughters Hospital in Ashland, KY on July 1, 1954, the son of the late Elmer Jackson Whitley and Nannie Faye Ferguson Whitley. Back when Keith was lead singer for JD Crowe and the New South in the late 1970's and early 1980's, he found he had lost his birth certificate, and he needed one for his passport. So when he received his new one from Frankfort, it came back with the wrong birth date, July 1, 1955. All this information was given to me by his mother during a phone conversation I had with her in 1991. I'm sure Lorrie knew his real birthdate, but why she insisted on putting the wrong one on his tombstone no one seems to know. If you need more proof, I have a digital copy of his original birth announcement provided to me by the Whitley family with his birth date, place of birth, and birth weight. If you need a copy of this, send me a message. This Paul Overstreet ...

Alison Kraus & John Waite Lay Down beside me

johnwaitethegreatest.web-log.nl Without realizing it many people are acquainted with John Waite. Although a first encounter with the name John Waite doesnt immediately ring a bell, a short summary of his musical achievements commands very soon recognition, admiration and respect. Especially his unique, pristine and fragile voice throws people into ecstasies. John Waite is The Babys, the solo hit Missing You and - of course - Bad English. Being born in Lancaster - England - on the 4th of Juli 1952, John Waite is above all known for his movingly - delicately sung rock ballads. Like no other his voice is capable to shape the stilled emotions and chilled romantic relations through singular songs and lovely tuneful scores - the voice of John Waite is one of unmatched quality. The excellently modest, crystal clear sung, distinct vocals accomplish that pieces of music like: Isnt It Time, Every Time I Think Of You (with The Babys), Missing You, Time Stood Still and When I See You Smile (with Bad English) are ever more often being regarded as pinnacles of the rocking chronicles. Together with The Babys John Waite had big hits, apart from The Netherlands also in Japan, Italy and Germany, but in particular in the US of America. Very well known are: Isnt It Time (nr. 4 position in The Netherlands - 1977), Every Time I Think Of You (nr. 7 position in 1979) and Piece Of The Action - records that were played perpetually by Frits Spits and others. After The Babys separated in 1981, John ...

Stick With Me Baby - Robert Plant & Alison Krauss

Don't worry, I don't plan on quitting my day job to take up a career in film or anything. I just made this video because I love this song and I couldn't find it on YouTube. If you like what you hear I strongly suggest checking out their new album called, "Raising Sand." Oh, and I know the words can be hard to read so it MIGHT work better in full screen mode.

ALFREDO KRAUS Lamento Borincano.wmv

Words and music of "Lamento Borincano" by Rafael Hernandez. Alfredo Kraus Trujillo (24 September 1927 10 September 1999) was a distinguished Spanish tenor of partly Austrian descent, particularly known for the artistry he brought to opera's bel canto roles. He was also considered an outstanding interpreter of the title role in Massenet's opera Werther, and especially of its famous aria, "Pourquoi me réveiller?". Kraus was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands of Spain. He began his musical career at age four, when he took piano lessons, and he sang in the school choir by age eight. His older brother, Francisco Kraus Trujillo, a baritone, studied music and opera alongside him. In 1956, Kraus made his professional operatic debut in Cairo as the Duke in Rigoletto, which became one of his signature roles. In 1958, he sang Alfredo at the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos in Lisbon in a production of La Traviata with Maria Callas, a live recording of which was later released. Kraus made his Covent Garden debut as Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor in 1959 and his La Scala debut as Elvino in La Sonnambula in 1960. He made his American debut with Lyric Opera of Chicago in 1962, and his Metropolitan Opera debut in 1966 in Rigoletto, the role of his last performance there in 1994. In subsequent decades, Kraus extended his repertoire to include more Italian operas such as Lucrezia Borgia, La fille du régiment, Linda di Chamounix, Don Pasquale and La favorita by Donizetti ...

This beautiful song is from the album, Raising Sand. The photos in my video are of actress Rachel Weisz and actor Ralph Fiennes. Lyrics: Leaves were falling ..Just like embers In colors red and gold they set us on fire Burning just like a moonbeam ..in our eyes Somebody said they saw me Swinging the world by the tail Bouncing over a white cloud. Killing the Blues I am guilty of something I hope you never do because there is nothing sadder than losing yourself in love Repeat Chorus Now, you ask me Just to leave you To go out on my own and get what I need to You want me to find what I've already had Repeat Chorus

Alan Jackson & Alison Krauss - The Angels Cried

They came from near, they came from far Following a distance star to where He lay Not being sure of what it mean, but Knowing it was their way And the creatures gathered 'round And didn't make a sound And the angels cried The angels knew what was to come The reason God had sent His son From up above It filled their hearts with joy to see and Knowing of His destiny Came tears of love I've often thought about that night And wondered if they realized That star so bright Was sent to tell all the land The Son of God would soon become The Son of Man And the creatures gathered 'round And didn't make a sound And the angels cried And the Angel Cried And the Angel Cried
