This is a Kubing, the Philippine's version of the Jew harp. This instrument is super awesome and everyone should get one! The one I have is a 10 inch kubing made from bamboo. I bought it online since I don't think it's available where I live.

Kubing or harp is an ancient musical instrument of Magalinday Bembaran the Ancient Kingdom of the East known as the Iranun Empire in 16th centuries,now a days known as the Bangsamoro nation fighting for self -determination in southern Philippines in which it is played with the accompany of Insi or Flute , kutyapi or guitar and Sironga Ganding or a small drum made of bamboo.

Kubing (similar to Jews Harp, Guimbarde, Maultrommel, Arpa de Boca) is an instrument of the Philippines. It is an idioglot mouth harp of organic material, in this case bamboo, plucked with the finger as opposed to pulled with a string.

Went for a walk the other day, saw this rotting tree with this fungus growing on it so decided to take pictures. I made a slideshow on Windows Movie Maker and recorded some backing music with a Kubing on Audacity using condenser microphone.

Kubing Improvisation
Me improvising on the Maranao Jaw Harp or "Kubing" as it is called here in the Philippines. To Kathleen Caranto: Katz, maraming maraming salamat sa kubing, labs na labs ko na 'tong instrument na 'to. Salamat ulet. If you notice the loud rooster sounds in the background, it was beyond my control, but I think it goes well with the sound of the kubing.
