ABOUT THIS VIDEO A QANTAS Airbus A380 becomes involved in an emergency situation when a problem with the front landing gear is discovered. The plane aborts its first landing attempt, performs a go-around and then lands safely on runway 27L at Heathrow Airport. Once on the ground the huge plane is unable to vacate the runway due to loss of steering - however she is eventually towed to Terminal 4 where the problem is rectified. She later takes off for her 23 hour return trip to Sydney, Australia. In a statement to The Australian QANTAS confirmed that the aircraft did a go around at 1900 feet and the Captain requested priority clearance as a precaution following a cockpit steering system fault message. The problem was resolved on the ground within 80 minutes. QANTAS also made it clear that there was no risk to safety and all actions where precautionary. Desktop review of the Gerber LHR combat knife. Blade length - 16cm (3cm of serration, 13cm of plain blade). Blade thickness - ~6mm (7/32") Blade material - 420HC steel with ceramic coating Overall length - 32cm Weight - knife only: 300g (knife + sheath = ~590g) Role - Primarily a combat/tactical deployment knife (NOT utility) I know a lot of people have been reserved about this knife simply due to the blade material, but I think one needs to view this in light of the purpose for which it was designed. It was intended to be used as a primary combat knife (ie, a backup weapon in case your primary (boomstick) fails). AND, whilst out on deployments, the last thing you want to be worried about is spending a lot of time maintaining your blade (sharpening your blade or oiling it, etc). With the choice of steel and the great heat treatment and the ceramic coating, this is quite a solid knife, that was intended to be carried as a combat knife. And it's dependably there and sharp when on patrol. It's definitely not for everyone. I think it needs to be held in the hand, and try the sheath system - having said this, you REALLY want to give the knife retention system a good go (and getting used to) - I initially hated it, but once you get used to it, you hope that every other fixed blade tactical knife would come with such a system. Sure, it might make an okay wood splitter, but this is not what it was designed to do. You wouldn't choose an uzi to pull off long-range sniper shots, so <b>...</b>

I was in seat 23a on El Al's huge 747-400 and took a video of the whole takeoff process from London's LHR to Tel Aviv on Monday, April 23rd at around 4pm. The video starts at the taxi and ends 3 minutes later when we were high above the clouds. My seat was right above the enormous engines of the aircaraft. Flying time to Tel Aviv was exactly 4 hours that day (usually it's 4 hours and 20 minutes) - I guess we had a good tail wind.

March 7, 1993 - My flight from Washington Dulles to London Heathrow aboard the British Airways Concorde. This was shot with Sony Hi8 camera on a SteadiCam. The pilot was so fascinated with the SteadiCam that he invited me into the cockpit. This was the experience of a lifetime! The return flight is also here on youtube. Search for London to Washington. Welcome to my ZRH-LHR-LAX trip report. I went to California in February for vacation, another great chance to record my trips and present them to you on Youtube. I chose BA and AA for my trip, because they were the cheapest. I also tried to get different airplanes on my trip. Flight back is on a B747 of British Airways. I had a 4 hour layover in LHR, and as you will see in the vid, I checked out a lounge in terminal 3. Flight on American Airlines was pretty surprising considering the onboard service. The food quality was great and the FA's very friendly and attentive. Their seat is old school though. At least they have got screens! :) If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask, I'll try to answer all of them. And now, please sit back, relax, and enjoy my trip report! Cheers!
