Laettner Visits Kentucky Superfan

Every year we like to have a little fun at the expense of one of our friends. He's a Kentucky basketball fanatic, so when March Madness rolls around, we find a way to prank him with a Duke-UK/Christian Laettner reference. I think we outdid ourselves this year. While visiting him in Kentucky, I took these Starting Lineup figures and allowed them to run amuck in his man cave- eventually hiding there to become a part of his collection of basketball collectibles.

Christian Laettner sets up a buzzer beater for Currye Todd

Listen to this audio when the Jacksonville Giants beat the Gulf Coast Flash in the last three seconds of the game. On December 3, 2011, with three seconds left on the clock, Christian Laettner inbounded the ball to mid-court. Mike Polyte leapt forward to receive the pass, and immediately passed to Currye Todd. With seconds left in what looked like what would be the Giants' first loss in the regular season, Todd hit a 40 foot 3-point shot straight through the net to give the Giants a win in Game 1 of Season 2. Richard Miller, television host of the game for CW 17 and host for Miller on Sports, described the finish as a "storybook ending." Coach Willie Ponds repeatedly exclaimed, "Oh, my goodness, I was here to see this finish." The final score: Jacksonville Giants 116, Gulf Coast Flash 115
