Hi my name is Lee and this is the first video i've ever up loaded on youtube(had nothing worth putting up before) and it was filmed on 8th July 2011 at 3.15pm. I was just looking out the window minutes before this happened and having seen so many other videos of tornadoes/twisters on youtube i recognize the cloud movement as what could be the start of a tornado. That's when i grab my camera and started filming luckily just seconds before the twister started to form. This film footage was featured on BBC Northwest Tonight and was describe as a funnel cloud not a twister as it didn't touch down.But conflicting reports(Bolton news website) suggest it did touch down in Westhoughton which is about 3-4 miles away from were this was filmed and cause a little damage to some roof tops and toss some garden furniture around. I would like to apologize for the sound track it is pretty bad as the original audio was just me saying "bloody hell a tornado" lol and there is no wind or thunder sounds too so i just used youtubes free audio changer. Please feel free to use clips and still pictures on other websites. I know this isn't as good as some of the other videos particularly the ones you see in USA but for England this is pretty cool stuff and i hope you enjoy it.

Britain seen in colour for the first time was heralded as a great technical advance for the cinema audience - now we can view a much improved image, but one which still stays true to the principles of the colour process. The rather haphazard journey from Land's End to John O'Groats creates a series of moving picture postcards. Look out for shots containing the component colours - red and blue-green - such as when a little girl in a red coat and hat walks among peacocks in the grounds of a castle, and three girls with red curly hair pose by the sea at Torquay. The car is a Vauxhall D-type - considered a sporty model at the time. A long-distance journey by car was a relatively new concept, with none of the amenities en route now taken for granted. The visit to a petrol station shows smoking on the forecourt: no health and safety issues back then! The travelogue ends with a series of recognisable London landmarks. In 2011 Lancashire County Council and United Utilities started a £300000 project to "transform" Worsthorne Moor (part of the South Pennines) into an oasis for wildlife, ramblers and, er, mountain bikers. As at March 2012, there is some work still taking place to restore the heather moorland and the vital peatland of the moor. But the big IMPORTANT news for thrill seekers is that a new mountain bike trail has been completed, allowing MTBers a great little trail from the dam at the Hurstwood reservoir through the woods and back to the car park at Hurstwood village. This video is meant to give mountain bikers an idea of what is actually on the trail; so no no-one does any prat-falls, no-one loses their nuts, no-one breaks any bones. No animals were hurt in the making of this video; although a friendly border collie chewed up some sticks. The top section starts from just below the large wooden farmgate at the eastern end of the dam of Hurstwood Reservoir. This gravel section is only about 150 to 200 metres long, but it is a nice introduction to the new trail, with generally gentle sweeping curves and berms. If it's your first time out on your new Halfords or supermarket bike, it's definitely a section to keep repeating until you can do it with no mishaps or near misses. For any-one who been on a mountain bike for more than a few months, it's pretty easy to do so you might like to power down the slopes as a warm-up. In the first half of 1847 an estimated 300000 Irish migrants arrived into the port of Liverpool. Irish migration into Lancashire escalated significantly during the Great Famine and remained high in the post-famine period. Irish migrants were described as being markedly susceptible to mental illness and Lancashire's four major asylums absorbed a huge number of Irish migrants from the 1850s onwards. A three-year, Wellcome trust funded project entitled 'Madness, migration and the Irish in Lancashire c.1850-1921', has been set up to examine this phenomenon. The project assesses whether there were particular stereotypes and concerns, which influenced the incarceration and treatment of Irish patients, and places the experiences of Irish patients and those treating them within a broader canvass of efforts to tackle disease, poverty, intemperance and social dislocation in Lancashire. The arrival of large numbers of Irish in Lancashire prompted a series of anxieties for civil, religious and medical authorities, particularly as the Irish became concentrated in overcrowded, disadvantaged areas of Liverpool. The Irish were held responsible for a range of evils that threatened the social equilibrium: the rising incidence of pauperism, violence, and crime generally, and more specifically outbreaks of disease, declining wages, sectarian violence and political tensions.
