Syrian Military Withdraw from Latakia and Deir Al Zor Security forces have completed a mission in Al Raml Al Filistini, a neighborhood in Latakia, Syria, according to a security official quoted on Wednesday by the state news agency. On the same day in Deir Al Zor, government troops began to pull out from the eastern province, which marked a turning point of nearly five months of protests in the country. Military tanks opened fire at Sunni Muslim districts in Latakia for the fourth day in a row, on August 16, killing 36 people and forcing thousands of Palestinian refugees to leave, according to activists. On August 8, the military advanced towards the city to apparently track down armed terrorist groups responsible for the chaos, according to authorities, however the opposition deemed as anti-government protests crackdown. Al Arabiya cannot independently verify the content of these videos. As Syria has banned any foreign media in the country. According to human rights activist, nearly 1900 civilians have been killed nationwide since the uprising began mid-march demanding an end to the 41 year rule of the Assad regime.
