Twitter.com - Follow Us! Predators star Laurence Fishburne talks about the tone of the film and the similiarities and differences with the original film. Predators opens in theaters July 9th, 2010. A bold new chapter in the Predator universe, "Predators" was shot on location under Rodriguez's creative auspices at the filmmaker's Austin-based Troublemaker Studios, and is directed by Nimrod Antal. The film stars Adrien Brody as Royce, a mercenary who reluctantly leads a group of elite warriors who come to realize they've been brought together on an alien planet... as prey. With the exception of a disgraced physician, they are all cold-blooded killers - mercenaries, Yakuza, convicts, death squad members - human "predators" that are now being systemically hunted and eliminated by a new breed of alien Predators. CBS hasn't picked a replacement yet, but with Ashton Kutcher substituting for Charlie Sheen on "Two and a Half Men", CBS will start the 2011-12 season with new leads on at least two of its signature series. While the LA Times speculates that a breakdown in contract talks seems like the motivation for Fisburne's departure, Pop Eater claims that the actor is leaving the primetime network series to make more movies. "The Matrix" star was hired in 2008 to replace William Petersen, and his sudden departure leaves "CSI" producers and writers with a major headache right before production is due to start on Season 12. Fishburne was originally judged to be worth his estimated $14 million salary for his first season, but by the end of Season 11 ratings had dropped significantly and "CSI" had dropped out of the Top 10 for the first time. CBS announced it would downgrade the series from its traditional Thursday night showcase and place it on Wednesdays at 10pm. www.theatermania.com Laurence Fishburne has been one of Hollywood's most iconic actors for nearly 30 years, thanks to unforgettable performances in Apocalypse Now, What's Love Got to Do With It?, for which he received an Academy Award nomination, and the box-office smash The Matrix. But the powerful 46-year-old star is no stranger to the stage, having won the Tony Award in August Wilson's Two Trains Running and appearing in such diverse plays as The Lion In Winter and Fences. Now, Fishburne is taking on his biggest challenge portraying former US Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall in George Stevens Jr.'s solo play Thurgood, which officially opens at the Booth Theatre on April 30. He recently spoke to TheaterMania about portraying this legendary role model -- as well as his own role models.
