Denis Colin Leary (born August 18, 1957) is a Golden Globe- and Emmy Award-nominated American actor, comedian, writer and director. He is known for his often angry comedic style, and his chain smoking. As of 2009, Leary is the star and co-creator of the television show Rescue Me. Leary was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, the son of Irish Catholic immigrants. His mother, Nora, was a maid. His father, John Leary (deceased), was an auto mechanic. Since both of his parents are from Killarney, County Kerry, Ireland, Leary holds both Irish and American citizenship. He graduated from Saint Peter-Marian High School, in Worcester. Through marriage, Leary is a distant cousin of talk show host Conan O'Brien and has jokingly said on Late Night with Conan O'Brien that, "All Irish people are related." His name is often misspelled as "Dennis" instead of the correct "Denis."

Project Camelot interviews Brian O'Leary Vilcabamba, Ecuador, January 2009 projectcamelot.org Dr Brian O'Leary suffered the ridicule of his schoolfriends when - several years before Sputnik - he announced his intention to go to the moon. Yet by the age of 27 he was a member of NASA's astronaut program, slated to be one of the first to visit Mars. Several years later, he resigned (for various reasons) and took up a career in academia where he rubbed shoulders with - among many others - Carl Sagan at Cornell and the pioneering psi investigator Robert Jahn at the physics department at Princeton. A near-death experience in a auto accident encouraged his exploration of the paranormal, and soon after he applied his considerable abilities to the investigation of Free ('overunity') Energy and psi phenomena. He authored several books and became a well-known Free Energy activist. His list of personal friends reads like a Who's Who of notable paradigm-challenging researchers and out-of-the-box thinking scientists. In our interview we asked him to summarize his exceptional life, and present his vision for the future. An optimistic, gentle man, Brian O'Leary is gifted to possess intellect, vision and graciousness in equal measure. We were delighted to spend time with him at his Vilcabamba home and are very much looking forward to continuing our friendship with him in 2009 and beyond. "The official story is that Leary changed his mind about the deep freeze a month before he kicked the bucket. This might be true and might not, so don't ask me, this is not a press conference. The point is, Timothy Leary finally announced that he didn't want his head becoming an icon, and that he distrusted cryonics labs. So the official story is, he chose another publicity stunt for his farewell party instead - he was cremated and had some of his ashes shot into space. But within a few months of Timothy Leary's death, our movie came out with an ending scene that showed Dr. Tim's demise, decapitation, and the storage of his frozen head. That's when the LSD guru's most serious-minded devotees got VERY upset with me and threatened to banish me if I ever showed up at one of their raves. Apparently, they kicked me out of Hippie-Land forever, and never again would I show up in San Francisco with flowers in my hair. Many of the former leaders of the Psychedelic Revolution denounced me because I had the audacity to do something UNTHINKABLE. They forgot that the very lesson Timothy taught us was that NOTHING is UNTHINKABLE, so do it (as long as it doesn't hurt anybody)."-Alienzoo Dr. Leary died of inoperable prostate cancer, and he'd planned an elaborate death ritual for himself. He'd set up webcams where fans of his work could watch him commit suicide in real time. Instead he died in his sleep, uttering the last words: "why not."
